awful!

Cristian is a women-hunter that comes from a New-York travel and tells his friend Jesus that he has the contacts to fulfill their dreams: Starting a advertisement business. Begoña, Jesus' wife, hates Cristian and is pregnant, so she doesn't want his husband to take stupid risks, and Jesus, not very willingly denies the project. The tryings of the two to convince Jesus become a theoretically funny situations in which everyone tell excuses to not really deal with the fact hey don't want to do something. I've seen the theatre part this movie comes from and it's quite bad, I hoped that the movie could be better, but it worse indeed. None of the actors makes the minimum decent part, characters are hateful and stupid (very!) and there are many scenes done only to fill minutes to the film. Some others, as Cristian driving a Ferrari, seem totally that as the actor wanted to drive it, knowing that Joel Joan is also the director, said: let's do it, I'm the boss, I can do it!. Please, there are better ways to spend 90minutes of your life.

Poor excuses

Warning: Spoilers
This misguided attempt to comedy showed up recently on a cable channel. Not having a clue as to what it was about, we decided to take a chance. Bad choice!

The film, by Catalan director Joel Joan, who appears to have been making his debut as a full length feature, is a writer, basically, as well as an actor. In fact this project seems to have been a joint venture with Jordi Sanchez as a vehicle for themselves. Although the screenplay is credited to Pep Anton Gomez, it appears the basis for the comedy was a stage play involving Mr. Joan and Mr. Sanchez.

The story involves Christian, a horrible womanizer and his pal, Jesus. Christian having made contacts with an American ad agency decides to create their dream come true breaking away from their jobs. Jesus is married to Begona, who hates Cristian. Susana, a television personality is Christian's main squeeze. The quick pace in this comedy gets out of hand right away when one realizes one does not have anything in common with the duo at the center of the action, nor does one care what happens to them.

Relations and humor intelligently united

This film is one very entertained and with amusing situations taken almost until the subrealism. History deals with two pairs, where the men work together, but one is a woman-hunter with desire to undertake new vision of its labor land, whereas the other not this contentment neither with its work nor with its life, however he accepts it and even shuts up. When being developed history, the things confuse, and give to foot to a series of ingenious situations full of humor and simplicity.

On the other hand, I say that is an original play, adapted to the cinema by the same director and scriptwriter of the work: Joel Joan. That she is the protagonist as well. Recommendable to happen wonderful awhile.

Daft - but enjoyable - little film

It's a bit of a rarity because its a Catalan language film but if you're armed with subtitles (unless you are a Catalan speaker of course!) then you're good to go! It is about the manic, egotistical Cristian who ropes in his reluctant friend Jesus into forming their new business and their relationships with their wives. I thought it was pretty funny myself - I get a bit lost with film comedies from Spain but this is good value I think. A solid 7 out of 10.
