Standard formula but okay
mjarvis016 May 2007
I thought this film was okay once the director decided not to go for outright comedy and tell a story. Hairshow is not a comedy I would call it light entertainment. When I watched the opening scene that had Monique putting salt in her coffee I thought to myself that if this is all they can do for comedy then this film is going to be a disaster. The will reading scene did make me laugh but from then on it was just light entertainment. I loved both the leading actresses Monique and Kellita Smith and I have a soft spot for Gina Torres being a 'Firefly' fan. The film had standard situations, sibling rivalry, competition with another hair salon and a tangled love life and off course a competition. Who will win? Anyway I liked hair show, would not buy unless I found it at a knockdown low price but I liked it. The only thing I could not get my head around was the leading mans choice of woman, but to each his own.

Sister's forever

This film is the embodiment of most family rivalries. But when all is said and done we are still there for one another .

Sisters will be Sisters. I thought that this movie was well done . Just wished It would have gotten more advertising. Mo' Nique is her usually funny self, Gina Torres is ultimate is the heffa you love to hate, Kelita Smith does a great job being the older and at most the too wise sister for her own good. The supporting cast just flows with the story line, which caries through the whole movie. I saw a great deal of my relationship with my very own sisters in this movie , I believe that's what made me like it even more so. Go see it with Your sister, friend girl , aunt. Just go see it.

Excellent and highly underrated!

This movie was so underrated, I just can't believe it! I loved every minute of it from beginning to end. Mo'nique did such an amazing job. For the most part she was her usual funny & crazy self, but she did also have some serious parts and I was so impressed. She even had me in tears during one scene - no lie! The rest of the cast were all very good as well. Also many people I appeared in quick 'few minute' scenes throughout the movie which was cool. Some were Vivica A. Fox, comedian Bruce Bruce, Serena Williams, super fine Bryce Wilson (from Beauty Shop-mmm!), E-40 (my favorite rap star) and many more! The story was also very good. Don't pay attention to this films ratings.. it was an excellent movie!
