Total rubbish - to be avoided at all costs!
veer280822 March 2009
I had the misfortune to catch this movie on late night cable TV. "American Daylight" joins the ranks of faceless, doomed-to-anonymity, Indian-American co-productions built around the call centers phenomenon and seeks to lure gullible Indian movie-goers to a totally boring vehicle. The movie is poorly acted, has an incredulously unbelievable story line and apparently has a hard time deciding whether it wants to be a love story or a crime drama.

Even Bollywood stalwart Gulshan Grover seems to be moving about in a zombie-like daze, probably having realized his mistake in signing up for this debacle. The only halfway decent thing about the film is Koel Purie who could have a good career in films if she avoids such crappy scripts in future.

Total rubbish - this is a movie to be avoided at all costs!

Very Good Movie

Hey Friends, I have seen Americal Daylight. It is a very good movie. It is movie to watch. Though a artistic movie, it is something which is a incident and happens in an individual's life working in a Call Centre.

Koel Purie, Nick Moran and Vijay Raaz have given an amazing performance. One good thing is that this movie is produced by Bobby Bedi. Good to see someone backing a exciting movie like this. Koel Purie is totally good and also she is sexy. Watch out for her. Given some good scripts and movies she will be a top actress. If I had a chance to produce and direct movies, than Koel Purie will be the only actress who will star in all my movies.

Very interesting movie

Having worked in US call centers for over ten years I was very excited and interested to see this movie for myself.

American Daylight strives to be a love story with intrigue. The lovers come from two very different worlds. Sujata or 'Sue' as she is known to the American callers, works in a call center in a new growing suburb of Delhi. Lawrence is portrayed as the rich American that has all needs paid for by the company. (This is a very common practice for relocated American center managers, but seems foreign to the Indian culture).

You'll be surprised to see how this story takes the characters through a web of plots, plans, deceit, misunderstandings, double-crosses and a clash of cultures.

American Daylight is a thriller through which emerges a love story of modern global times.

The person behind a call centre operator
Elenaj1024 April 2017
Warning: Spoilers
The film is nice, but you have to pay attention to how the story unfolds. Sujata (aka Sue)with her share of family and financial problems is an employee at an outsourced American call centre . Out of kindness she offers classified information to one caller (Lawrence) about his wife. Backed by her anti-Americanization supervisor Pat she accepts the money that Lawrence offers her. Despite the long distance Sue and Lawrence develop a special bond, much to Pat's dismay.

This situation soon gets out of control with bigger fish involved, even putting their lives in danger.

The film is worth a view and it's interesting to watch the life of a call centre operator. Often we can't imagine that a person answering the phone call is a real person with real life struggles. Especially in the case of outsourcing, the operator can be thousands of miles away and it becomes even more difficult to envision their reality.

If you're interested in outsourcing I also recommend watching "Outsourced" (2006). This film offers a respectful representation of the Indian culture in contrast to the American one. It's a very honest and real insight to people visiting India for the first time and experiencing a big culture shock.
