A bullfight filmed in the arena in Mexico City in 1896.
spehr18 February 2007
The camera operator was most certainly Eugene Lauste. He told of being in Mexico City and filming the bull fight. His description is in the Merritt Crawford Papers at the Museum of Modern Art, NYC. Lauste said he went to Mexico with Grey Latham and made no mention of Enoch Rector who does not seem to have been actively involved in the Lambda Company who produced the film. Rector become involved with the company a few months later when it ran into financial difficulties. The Lambda Company was established by the Latham family (Grey, his brother Otway and his father Woodville)in 1895. The Lathams had partnered with Rector and Samuel J. Tilden (grandson of the presidential candidate) to exhibit boxing pictures on the Kinetoscope, but the Lambda company was created separately to project images.
