LONDON -- BBC Worldwide director of television distribution Anthony Utley has been appointed managing director of Manchester-based animation house Cosgrove Hall Films, it was announced Wednesday. Wholly owned by ITV production subsidiary Granada, Cosgrove Hall is the creator of such kids and preschool brands as DangerMouse, Engie Benjie and Little Robots. The appointment was made by Granada director of drama arts and kids John Whiston, who said Utley's experience in international co-productions was a key element of the appointment. "We are delighted that Anthony is joining Cosgrove Hall Films as managing director. His combination of experience in international co-production and his feel for the specialized area of pre-school and animation will help drive CHF forward into its next phase while building on all that is great -- and small -- about the company." Utley will join Cosgrove Hall in early October.
