Françoise Christophe,a very talented actress, has never been really lucky on the silver screen.Best /worst example is her part of queen Alice in Mario Bava's extravaganza "Gli Invasori" .Her best roles are to be found in mini-series ("Les Thibault" 1972,part of Madame de Fontanin) or on stage (this filmed stage production from the "Au Théâtre Ce Soir" collection).
"Et L'Enfer Isabelle?" (=what about Hell,Isabelle?) is the last sentence of the play.Christophe portrays a woman who might (or might not)be the worst criminal woman since La Voisin .But she always repeats "I am innocent" even when evidences are found and the viewer always asks himself if she will finally get away with all the things she has perhaps done.Christophe gives a subtle performance :is she an angel or a demon?
