Winston in Five Minutes

Stan Winston: Monster Mogul (2003)

** (out of 4)

Five-minute promotional piece that can be found on the WRONG TURN release. Winston talks about what draws him into pictures and he goes through the list of some of his biggest titles including THE TERMINATOR, PREDATOR, JURASSIC PARK, EDWARD SCISSORHANDS and of course this leads to WRONG TURN. He talks about why he likes to work as a producer and if he does produce a film what he expects out of it. Overall this thing is certainly nothing special and you can find countless other featurettes out there that deal with Winston in a better way. This was obviously just made to be able to say the DVD (and now Blu-ray) has some special features.

there are WAY better featurettes on Stan out there on other DVDs

I like Stan Winston, I think he does good special effects. He's an alright guy in my mind. I've seen many DVD special features on and featuring Stan's work. All have been longer. All have been way less fluffy than this one. And all have been better. This is just a recap of what movies he has done effects for. Seriously he just names movies he's done followed be a sentence or two and then on to the next film. I was disappointed. One thing that I found funny was how Winston goes on about how he won't produce a movie unless he feels that there's a fantastic element to it. I laughed of course because the film he produced before "Wrong Turn", was the craptastic "Teenage Caveman"This extremely short 5 minute featurette can be found on 20th Century Fox's Region 1 of the "Wrong Turn" DVD.

My Grade: F
