It has been more than 20 years since I've watched this TV-series yet I still remember so many details. It has been the best soap opera I have ever seen. The story was unique and very moving and the characters were so powerful. The music was beautiful and the theme song became a big hit. It was the type of series that would make you change your schedules to be able to see it. VCR's were not available back then. So, all plans and appointments were canceled to be able to stay home and watch it. I never missed an episode. Almost everyone I knew at that time would stay home to watch it too. This show left a lasting impression on me. I give this my highest recommendation.

Forget the remake - this is the real McCoy. Mayra Alejandra and Carlos Olivier are spellbinding in "Leonela"! Leonela is a virgin who gets raped by a drunk at the eve of her wedding. Her fiancé drops her, as do most of her friends - but what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and Leonela's spirit triumphs as she becomes one of the best attorneys in town, though her heart hardens... Meanwhile, a humble and repentant Pedro Luis goes to law school in prison as he pays his debt to society. Many years later, Leonela and Pedro Luis face each other - he still loves her, but will she open her heart to him? And where is the child of rape she gave up for adoption?
