not that good, but still better than the movie it's about
movieman_kev9 September 2005
This 8 minute interview with Dardano Sacchetti on his writing of "Manhattan Baby" can be found on the Anchor Bay DVD release of the aforementioned movie. He talks about his attempts to get away from the classical themes of horror, as well as, his love/hate relationship with Producer Fabrizio De Angelis, his fondness of Lucio Fulci, the lack of budget when it was decided by the producers to cut three quarters of it, the unwanted addition of the film's prologue, the unwanted addition of the exorcism scene to make the unwanted prologue make sense, and other things. I din't really like the interview for some reason, yet it's still better than the movie itself.

My Grade: D+

Screenwriter Dardano Sacchetti is on hand for this eight-minute interview, which has him focusing in on his screenplay for the Lucio Fulci horror film MANHATTAN BABY. Sacchetti talks about how the original screenplay was a lot better but the production company sliced the budget by 75% and the screenwriter talks about the various changes that had to be done. The screenwriter also talks about the differences between Fulci and Dario Argento, which was interesting to hear. Fans of Fulci or the film in question will certainly want to check this out as the interview is quite fun and gives you some great details about what was going on behind the scenes.
