Even comedy isn't blameless.

This short film was yet another peek into the vivid imagination of Jesse Lawler, and those who dare to surround him.

Scapegoats, not unlike prior Lawler shorts, does a great job of taking the viewer into a world that lies just beneath the one most of us live in, and could easily be our next-door-neighbor's, if so...in the case of Scapegoats, it's time to move! The fast-paced theme of "it happened this way" among several roommates, had me laughing.

The range of comedic ability was strong among the cast (Feinman, Honey, and Melvin), who I'd only previously viewed in dramatic shorts.

I highly recommend this short to anyone needing a laugh, hey...can you blame me?

Not very good

I saw this at a screening in town a few months ago. While this piece is only mildly funny, I found the production values to be high. Unfortunately that didn't quite make up for the performances or the script.

The performances were a bit stagey and overdone, especially the guy who played Chandler. He's was by far the weakest link. There was lots of over-acting and mugging for the camera.

Obviously not a very well trained-group. The jokes were trite and the comedy seemed to fall flat.

Luckily it wasn't very long.
