Primitive Early Argentine Feature
boblipton27 May 2021
Orphan María Fernanda Ladrón de Guevara gets a job at a bank as cashier, and moves into a boarding house. The audience is treated to an assortment of funny types, including the motherly landlady and the two poor medical students, but the story darkens.

The copy of this silent Argentine feature was in poor shape. I also found the techniques used primitive; most of the story is told through titles, rather than the performances. Despite these handicaps, I found the story affecting and the plot's arc as it moves from well done.
