Honest depiction of early era of the reform in China
zzmale3 December 2003
Unlike most of the later films of social criticism which denounces corruption, this film of the early era of the reform gives a sympathetic view on both side: the older generation was trained in the old rigid Soviet style centralized planned economy which does not fit market economy, and they are not corrupted but lack the expertise. The younger generation was more vibrant in embracing new ideas.
