Accompanying the increased wealth and freedom, there was an increase in crime. At first glance, the story seemed comical, because the kidnappers made a stupid mistake by kidnapping the wrong person. However, it was rather an honest depiction because when this kind of crime first appeared in China in the late 1980's, the criminals were less experienced and organizied, they did not do their homework well and such things did happen.
