Everyone's talking about Latsi...

The best film so far of this very talented Hungarian director is this very first film of his. It combines simplicity with wit and authenticity and the absurd with a fine sense for the tragic. It is surprising and familiar at the same time. Fliegauf plays the card of fiction within the form of a documentary and thus succeeds to make things really happen not on the screen but in the mind of the audience. An extraordinary achievement. All the films he had done since bear the traces of this stunning debut but never equal it. A must. But of course impossible to get hold of it for its not distributed outside of Hungary.
