A man and a woman are both frustrated by their lives. Filled with questions of why? without any good answers. When they meet they think they have found all the answers to their problems but things don't work out as they'd hope. Why? Just because.
Why do I always get the bad seat in the movies? Why do I always lose one sock? Why do I always get stuck with the loser at the party? Just because! This short asks those questions but then goes on to answer some other ones. We see the man and the woman get together and be happy because these minor problems don't seem to exist between them. However other problems come up - either because minor things seem bigger without other problems as a benchmark or merely because they (as idiots) cause them themselves! Why do things happen - they just do.
Whether or not this is works is another matter. The short doesn't go deep but tries to stay a comedy. However it is nothing you haven't seen before and is only amusing at best. For example a scene focusing on `why do I always lose a sock at the laundrette?' - not exactly cutting edge comedy is it? More like Jasper Carrot circa 1987.
The tow leads are pretty good but the material is average and they can do nothing with it. Props to Léa Drucker for `doing the monkey' which must have been as embarrassing for her in real life as it is for her character in the film, but outside that - average.
Overall this is amusing at times but really is a series of old observational jokes tarted up to look clever with a French accent. The only fresh bit is good where the film notes that the answer to `why' may always be `just because' as well as problems we've caused ourselves.
