Kentaro Miura’s passing left a big hole in the anime and manga industry alongside an unfinished masterpiece in the form of Berserk. Kouji Mori, who also happens to be the late mangaka’s best friend decided to helm on the project in honor of him. The series has some of the most captivating art and storytelling. Nothing was ever as mesmerizing as that of Miura’s art and the stories he told through the series.

However, because of the 2016 adaptation, the series hasn’t had the best luck when it comes to anime. That is not its end. On the contrary, many wanted to pick up where Miura left off. Some are in the form of an anime while others with the resources of continuing the manga. Leaving his legacy unfinished was not an option and that was something Kouji Mori understood perfectly.

Kentaro Miura’s Berserk has remained on top of the psychological gore genre for years. Miura himself might not be amongst us, but he has left a legacy for other mangakas.
Berserk has always hit the sweet spot of dark fantasy lovers, and more so because it is not like a typical Shonen series. It is distinct from manga like Dragon Ball, One Piece, or Naruto and is more realistic. In a past interview, Miura revealed how his series avoided a common Shonen cliche.

In an interview with French Journal, La Figaro, Kentaro Miura revealed how he kept Berserk from suffering from typical Shonen issues. According to the author, a common situation in Shonen manga is the arrival of more incredible enemies along with stronger and stronger power-ups and weapons. Miura calls this inflation in the manga.

Kentaro Miura was one of the most decorated mangaka ever. His creation, Berserk, is one of the most iconic anime in the seinen genre. Unfortunately, he passed away, leaving his magnum opus incomplete. But thankfully, his friend, Kouji Mori, has picked up where he left off. Berserk follows the journey of Guts towards the path of redemption.
Berserk has one of the most gruelling plots, and the protagonist has to suffer a lot. There was almost no happiness left for him after his friend betrayed him. When Kentaro Miura was asked what kind of ending Berserk would have, he gave an unclear answer. He opted for a neutral answer, and the fans started to believe that Guts might finally be at peace.

Berserk is the one anime and manga that holds great importance both in terms of its story and also the emotions that come with it. Kento Miura’s untimely passing led to an abrupt stop to his entire fanbase. The shocked state they found themselves in also included the legacy he left behind. One that needed completion, closure, and justice at the same time.

That was until a fan-grouped animation studio took it upon themselves to carry on Miura’s legacy.

"Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace" is back in theaters for its 25th anniversary this week. The Berserk manga is a cult classic among comic aficionados and fans of the dark fantasy genre, and the 1997 anime adaptation of the Golden Age arc of the same name is often included in lists of the best anime of all time.
Despite the fact that there have been two anime adaptations of the manga specifically dedicated to the Golden Age, the entire arc has never been filmed. The first adaptation by Oriental Light and Magic Studio was released in 1997, right after the manga's Eclipse chapter, the climax of the Golden Age, was completed.
For its time, the anime looked strikingly beautiful, with detailed character faces, breathtaking landscapes, high-quality animation, and a great soundtrack by Susumu Hirasawa, whose name is already inseparable from Berserk.
1997’s Berserk Never Had a Proper Ending
In fact, the only drawback of the 1997 anime can only be the fact that a sequel was not originally planned.

The shonen genre in anime is one of the most popular, as a plethora of shows reach an insane level of popularity that is hard to match. However, this genre has a gem, which is Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter. Although the series has a faltering pace, Togashi-san’s manga remains one of the most popular manga series to be ever written.

Both the manga and the anime are commercially successful, thanks to the series’ unorthodox style of narration and world development. However, it is because of the sword’s massive size that Guts can use it to slay the apostles of God. Every fallen apostle adds to the sword’s strength, making it more and more effective every kill. Let’s say that Dragon Slayer is no less popular than Guts himself.
So, indeed it should be surprising for Berserk fans to know that Miura might not like Gut’s sword as much as everyone else.

Call of Duty games are all about virtual wars, but Activision has been in an ongoing battle for a long time now. This war has been against hackers and cheaters invading their games and ruining the fun for actual players.
While the company has implemented various types of anti-cheat systems in its games, hackers always find loopholes and workarounds. Sadly, these anti-cheat systems are not super refined, and innocent players end up on the chopping block.

Sometimes, anti-cheat software will wrongly label real players in games with hackers as being hackers themselves.

Two of the best platform games of the last few years, Ori and the Black Forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps, put Moon Studios on the radar. The studio is promoting its new title, which will not be distributed by Microsoft.

A new anime adaptation of Berserk is something that fans have always wanted, and that is not something new. This is because the legendary manga by Kentaro Miura has never truly got what it deserved in the form of anime.
Although the 1997 anime adaptation of the story under the studio named Olm Team Iguchi, did the best they could with the available resources they had, however, the difficult journey of our main character, Guts, his quest for revenge, and his search for peace of mind, were something that has never been fully explored in the anime.
Guts in Berserk
The frustration felt by the fans of Berserk over the lack of a proper anime adaptation of the manga reached a point where they are taking matters into their own hands.

The shocking news of Akira Toriyama suddenly passing away came as a shock to the whole wide world, as it was something completely unexpected at the time. The mangaka, who had been curating stories ever since 1978, is solely responsible for making the childhoods of millions around the globe simply awesome.

Before his sudden passing in March 2024, Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama had been working on numerous ongoing and upcoming projects, including the upcoming Dragon Ball Daima anime, as well as the ongoing Dragon Ball Super manga, illustrated by Toyotarō. The manga has been ongoing since 2015 and while it had some breaks over the years, the most recent one being in 2022, it has been confirmed by Shueisha that the manga series will be going on an indefinite hiatus.
This decision makes sense, seeing how Toriyama-sensei’s death impacted the anime and manga world. And while this manga was partially Toyotarō’s, Toriyama was nevertheless the heart and soul of the series and he provided the story ideas and basic plotlines that Toyotarō drew. Directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki, FromSoftware’s Elden Ring is a one-of-a-kind video game title. Its gameplay carries a certain experience that cannot be put into words, and one would need to play the game to understand what we are talking about.
Furthermore, for those who crave more of the experience Elden Ring delivers, a Reddit thread created more than a year ago, goes over a list of anime that gives the same vibe as the game. Describing the genre as Dark Fantasy, the original poster asked for other anime series similar to the game, and the community did not disappoint.

There are plenty of anime out there that make use of the gaming trope as their premise. You know, the one where the main character gets trapped inside a video game and now has to scale through all its levels to become the strongest being alive. Isekai anime and manga are particularly fond of this trope — with the most famous ones being “No Game, No Life,” “Overlord,” and “Sword Art Online.” There’s also the newest hype in the anime world with the manhwa turned anime, Solo Levelling.
But what if we tell you some games do the opposite and use anime as their premise? Here are four fan-favorite games that have been adapted from their anime counterparts.

This article contains spoilers for "Gen V" episode 6.
Part of the reason Prime Video's "The Boys" has been acclaimed is the ways it has adapted its source material, a satirical superhero gore-fest by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The comic has its moments of pathos, but it's mostly just a vile splatterfest. There's so much bad taste abound in the 72 issues that it often makes you wish your brain could spit it out.
"The Boys" TV series (developed by Eric Kripke) keeps the violence and dark humor, but it sharpens the comic's genre critique while updating it for modern politics. The superheroes of "The Boys" are still stand-ins for the rot of corporate America and celebrity culture. However, the TV show explores its characters with more sincerity (take the musical scene in episode 5). Kripke's "The Boys" doesn't laugh at its characters (at least not the leads) in the same way that Ennis' does.

Hayao Miyazaki just won't stop. The animation maestro has retired then unretired so many times it is just silly now, with his latest movie "The Boy and the Heron" being released in Japan with no trailers and being billed as his last goodbye — until it was revealed he was already throwing around ideas for his next project. "He's thinking about this next project every day, and I can't stop him -- in fact, I've given up," studio co-founder and long-time producer Toshio Suzuki recently said in an interview with French outlet Liberation.
But while the idea of more Miyazaki is exciting, what's somewhat troubling is the future Studio Ghibli is headed toward. After all, this is the greatest animation studio in the world, responsible for all-time classics like "Kiki's Delivery Service" (which ended up on our list of 100 best movies ever) and "Princess Kaguya," and which gifted us Totoro and tanuki testicle transformations.

If you know anything about the world of manga, Berserk is quite probably a title that has come up at one point or another. Now, Berserk is a classic, but with all the hiatuses and Miura’s untimely death, the series’ future had been jeopardized for years. Still, in 2022, it was confirmed that Berserk would continue under the supervision of Koji Mori, Miura’s friend, and colleague, and reach the end that Miura intended. This fact made a lot of fans happy, but while Berserk is going to continue, Miura’s last two volumes, as well as his personal journey through Berserk, are going to end this year with the publication of the Deluxe Edition of Berserk Volume 14, and in this article, you are going to find out everything you need to know about this upcoming release.

Few names in Hollywood's illustrious history get people talking quite like Joan Crawford. The legendary actress began her career in silent films before transitioning to sound, and worked for decades, appearing in more than 80 films and television shows. However, the images conjured up of Crawford these days are rarely of her -- instead, they're of Faye Dunaway, who played a diabolical and utterly maniacal version of the actress in "Mommie Dearest," That 1981 film -- based on a shocking book from Crawford's daughter Christina -- changed Crawford's reputation forever and all-too-often erases her stature as one of cinemas greatest stars.
That is nothing short of a tragedy. Few actors could match Crawford's talent, determination, and tenacity. Indeed, even after she retired and then passed away in 1977, very few have matched her prodigious abilities. It can be difficult to look past her domineering facade (especially in a post-"Mommie Dearest" world), but...

As someone who has been a "Star Wars" fan since I saw the first film as a little girl, I've been part of many debates about the original series. Years before the first prequel, "The Phantom Menace," came out in 1999, I was arguing for and against characters with my friends, defending the Ewoks (I was just the right age), and trying to figure out why so many characters couldn't keep their arms attached to their bodies.
The Ewoks were a big argument, though, which has often led to a debate on who exactly the films were made for. Were the "Star Wars" films for children? I'd always thought so — at least for the first trilogy. Often the argument was that the idea of a murderous father was too awful for kids. My defense was always that "The Hobbit," assorted fairy tales with parents who leave their children in the woods...

If you're a "Fullmetal Alchemist" fan, you've never forgotten about Nina Tucker. A four-year-old girl and the daughter of State Alchemist Shou Tucker, she's had a lonely life with only her dog Alexander for company. Until the alchemist Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse, stop by to study with her father. The three form a sibling-like bond — Nina calls the Elrics her "big brothers" — but tragedy is around the corner.
Shou, desperate to create a living chimera that can talk, uses Nina and Alexander as the ingredients. The Elrics are understandably horrified, but changing the monstrosity back into their "little sister" is beyond their capability. While Shou meets a deserved end at the hands of the serial killer Scar, unfortunately, so does Nina. The tragedy of Nina has been commemorated countless times in the "Fullmetal Alchemist" fan community, both with sincere eulogies and irony-poisoned memes.
I was introduced to "Fullmetal Alchemist" by the 2003 anime.

Yusuke Hirota makes his directorial debut with STUDIO4 ºC on “Poupelle of Chimney Town” (2020). The director is not new to the film scene, however. Hirota previously worked with the studio as a CGI artist on projects like “Berserk” (2012) and “Mind Game” (2004). Likewise, “Poupelle” is not news, either. Comedian-turned-author Akihiro Nishino worked closely with Hirota to make “Poupelle” an extension of his previously published storybook. While the book covers around “three to four chapters” of Nishino’s ideas, the film intends to cover around “ten” – making it effectively an extension of the world that the book began.
“Poupelle of Chimney Town” is screening at Vesoul International Film Festival of Asian Cinema
As a result, “Poupelle of Chimney Town” (the movie) feels like a hodgepodge of storylines that combine into one. Here, under the walled, smog-covered skies of Chimneytown, Lubicchi (Mana Ashida) is a lonely chimney sweep.
