Thoughtful drama, a small gem of independent filmmaking
spgorelick23 July 2002
Having been completely turned off by the pabulum spewed out by Hollywood every winter and summer, I have turned to the world of independent film as my refuge. Movies like "Delayed" remind me of what can and should be done in this medium by filmmakers who work from the mind and the heart. Plotwise, this film is quite simple and straightforward, but it has more moral complexity than 95 per cent of what is playing at your local multiplex. It is refreshing to see a story that is truly about something, featuring real flesh and blood characters displaying genuine emotions. Bravo!

A great movie with a meaningful message.

I saw "Delayed" at a screening on the campus of New York Uiversity in 2002 and recently stumbled across it again at a New Jersey Film Festival, where I sat in and watched it for a second time. Both times, I enjoyed this movie. One of the reasons I found this movie very impressive was how well it was done considering the low budget. This film has a very good story idea and although some of the actors are stronger than others, the message is clear throughout the movie. There is a unique perspective and meaningful message to the movie. The directing was excellent. Charles Ricciardi is a promising director that I am sure we will continue to see more of in the future. The soundtrack is also top notch.

Good drama, good acting

I saw this film in September 2002. It was at a film festival that had other films playing simutaneously. Usually slower dramas like this are not my cup of tea. However, I know there is an audience for this type of movie, especially after seeing In the Bedroom and The Hours. Delayed kept me in my seat for the entire movie. It kept moving forward. The main character goes thru changes during the film. The sound and cinematography were great despite the low budget. The audience also seemed to enjoy it, laughing in the right places, etc. If this film ever comes around your way at a film festival, it is worth checking out.
