With Comic-Con only two sleeps away, the publicity machine around the event is clicking into top gear. Comic-book actioner Red is back in the limelight with another two character banners to add to the ones we've already seen, via Imp Awards and courtesy of Summit Entertainment. Poster boy - and girl - are Karl Urban and Mary-Louise Parker. The typically svelte Kiwi actor plays Agency man William Cooper, the assassin charged with tracking down Frank Moses, Bruce Willis' retired spook. Biiig mistake. Frank can call on fellow retirees boasting an unusually lethal skillset, including John Malkovich, Morgan Freeman and a .50 cal-wielding Helen Mirren.Parker, meanwhile, is Frank's better half, Sarah, the woman he fights to protect. "The way they meet is just classic, lonely losers," she tells Superherohype. "She works for Social Security and he's calling to get his checks that he says he hasn't gotten. But actually — he...

HollywoodNews.com: Xavier Samuel has certainly been thrown into the spotlight. GQ goes so far as to refer to him as “Twilight’s Poster Boy”, though it’s meant as a pun since he is, quite literally, on a poster for the next “Twilight” film, “Eclipse”.
GQ recently interviewed the actor via telephone while he was driving a black tinted car in Berlin. “Eclipse” hasn’t even released yet, and Samuel is hiding behind tinted glass. He’s currently filming a Shakespearean movie by Roland Emmerich, director of “Independence Day” and “2012”. But no, Hamlet doesn’t blow things up at the end of this film and there’s no Laz Buhrman type “Romeo and Juliet” here, though there is ample green screen use. The story focuses on Shakespeare himself and toys with the idea that Shakespeare was possibly gay and plagiarized his plays.
However, after that light discussion,...

“I’m not sure what I’m here to see, but I’m excited about it.” — an art aficionado outside a crowded “Mr. Brainwash” exhibit.
Such is the documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, an indescribable blend of wild narrative and rare footage chronicling the fascinating rise of street art’s back-alley origins to its upscale gallery openings. With fresh insight into the continuing “what is art?” conversation and a debate over whether graffiti is vandalism or a valid form of expression, the film exists in the spray-can gray area of art itself. Rumors of the story as an elaborate hoax only muddy the canvas further.
The film is edited by Banksy, a notorious street artist whose elusive persona and mysterious stencils only add to the intrigue. With his face shadowed under a hooded sweatshirt and his voice warped by computer, Banksy interjects quips in a heavy British accent about the true subject,...

Scott Brown’s vote yesterday to block the Gop filibuster of the $15 billion jobs bill has cost him nothing less than his own Facebook page. Tea Partiers have not only hijacked the Wall of his Fanpage—and the Wall of his daughter’s Fanpage—they’ve also uploaded a stream of tasteful anti-Scott Brown protest images. Herewith, a slide show of some of the fan photos uploaded in the last 24 hours. Original captions have been preserved, although a picture is of course worth a thousand randomly selected and misspelled words. Caption, verbatim: “The New Poster Boy for any candidate or Senator or Congressman, to include any President, that blayently lies to their supporters!”...

Hugh Jackman has been named the next poster boy for his native Australia's tourism ads, according to a new poll. The "Wolverine" was chosen over other famous Aussie stars, including Kylie Minogue, Cathy Freeman, Dame Edna, and 11-year-old Bindi Irwin.
The Roy Morgan poll, conducted right before the Tourism Futures conference, asked tourism representatives to vote on who they think is right to be the country's next poster boy for their tourism ads. They were not prompted with a list of suggestions during the poll.
Conference convener Tony Charters explains that Jackman's appeal is based on his "quintessential Aussie profile." Also, his involvement in the movie "Australia," which he co-starred with another Aussie actress Nicole Kidman, and Tourism Australia's companion marketing campaign make him a perfect candidate.
The survey anticipates huge growth in the country's ecotourism. According to 71 percent of the respondents, promoting Australia's natural environment is the key to...

Hundreds of thousands of movie posters were mass-produced using lithography during Hollywood's silent era. But a few of the grander movie palaces demanded something more impressive.
In 1924, photography pioneer George Eastman hired an Italian immigrant artist named Batiste Madalena to hand-paint posters with tempera on paperboard for his 3,350-seat Eastman Theatre, the third-largest cinema in the United States when it opened in Rochester in 1922.
An exhibition running through April 6 at the Museum of Modern Art shows a striking selection from the approximately 250 posters that Madalena himself rescued from the trash when his tenure at the Eastman ended in 1928.

ROME -- This year's competition lineup for the Locarno International Film Festival cuts a broad swath, with many of the films tackling potent political topics. However, only one American film, Poster Boy, has been selected out of the 18 films that are in competition. Regarding the festival's strong accent on politics, artistic director Irene Bignardi said: "I think it is a good thing. Politics was in so many of the films that we went through. The state of the world has touched these filmmakers, and films are made for confronting ideas, ideologies and views of the world." A total of 17 countries will be represented in competition.
