almost an almost good movie

one word. background music. this is a good low-budget Scott Bakula film if you were ever looking for one. some parts remind me of quantum leap. and boy do i love me some quantum leap, which is why i saw this one in the first place. i don't want to spoil the movie, but there is way too much background music. it's way too loud and in a good portion of the movie. the worst part about that is, it's the same tune the whole time! it was probably on the computer they edited this movie with. this being said, Scott Bakula was funny in this. there were a few times i almost lost it. if you were get a chance to see this movie, use your own judgment. i would not recommend this over a good film to watch. it's a risk you have to be willing to take.

A parody, based on personal experience?

I enjoyed this film immensely. Firstly I really like Scott Bakula, and it was interesting that he was cast in the lead rather than Tony Alda. maybe Alda decided that casting himself in the lead would be far too confusing.... an under achieving actor, playing a failed actor pretending to be a green actor playing himself?!??!???!?

I though the storyline was clever and the casting of the ex-wife and the woman playing her in the movie about Alda's (oops, I mean Scott Bakula's, no the character's) life was inspired, given the visual similarity.

More please Mr Alda!!

This WAS a good movie!

I loved this! I am a huge Scott Bakula fan, but I don't always love everything I have seen him in. I DID love this one. No, it's not a blockbuster movie, but it IS cute, funny, and I think well written. As always I love seeing Scott play more than one role, and hearing him put on the southern accent was too fun! It probably wasn't too hard since he is a Missouri native (as I myself am!) so he didn't have to make too much of a stretch to get "southern"! I don't understand why some other people said it was "almost good" and picked at the music, I thought it was all just fine. Scott looks great as "Buck Steele" in that cowboy hat and boots, LOVED that! He is so good at playing emotional parts, it really pulls your heart strings. He's great at doing the comedy as well. Can you tell I love Scott Bakula's work??!! I am not completely biased though, I try to call it like I see it. What girls learn was an odd awkward part for him, but this was great. If you are a Scott fan, it is one you MUST see.

Good Fun

It's amazing how perspectives can change over time to further enhance a movie. I'm not sure how I would have felt about this movie back in 2002 but watching it in 2022 I had fun and it gave me some good laughs. I'm so used now to dredging through absolute dreck that this story was actually a breath of sweet clean air. Scott Bakula is a very charming lead and so an excellent pick to play a character that could have all too easily come off as irredeemable. The story is a little hokey but it's also cute and fun and it makes a nice break from the slickly smooth heartless pap I've seen lately full of fast talking, witlessly bantering ciphers. I'll give anything that's not misery porn a pass at the moment and this movie surprisingly exceeded my expectations. It tells a neat, efficient little story with some nice side characters thrown in for flavour without succumbing to bloat. It's worth a watch.
