POWERFUL & UNUSUAL
leeda-117 May 2003
I was blown-away by this beautiful and powerful film which I saw at a preview screening in Austin at the UT Austin film school. While the film was a rough cut, it was a real treat. I was very different than anything that I've seen coming out of America these days. Had a great Hungarian cinematographer. Spectacular images. The central premise, that there exists a parallel universe between substance/sexual abuse versus the world of technology, and the resulting analogous emotional numbness which these worlds gifts us all (whether wanted or not), is an important and unique vision. Warning...this film is intense and not for immature audiences. Hopefully it won't fly ovver the head of film-goers who have become numb to the sublime. Some great performances.
