Classic Western style with attitude
cadwell_jim16 February 2002
I saw this film recently and was blown away that a short film could be made that well, especially a western. How did they do it???

It is a return to the classic look and feel of when Western's ruled the silver screen. Back when guys like Peckinpah and a man named Eastwood would turn grit into style and every now and then you would root for the bad guy.

This film follows the story of two brothers on the run with one of their gang left behind to fend for himself. They have robbed a bank and made a dash for 'ol Mexico. They did not expect a cold-blooded merciless bounty hunter to only be just behind and hot on their trail.

I was very impressed with the cinematography, it harks back to the days of old. The Direction by Frank Robak is stark and he definitely gives us his own spin on the Western genre that is wonderfully poetic and epic. Robak also wrote this film and he has a way with dialog that stands out to be noticed.

The performances in this piece are worthy of the big screen. Scott Rudolph gives us a gritty cowboy that we have not seen in a long time and he not only nails it, he owns it. You can't help but root for him, even though his character Will, is that of a thief, but also a loving brother. It is like rooting for Butch and Sundance, even though they were bad guys. We see Will's ark as a man and the position he is now faced with. There is definitely good inside Will's soul.

The bounty hunter is played by Mark Sebastian, another character that you can't help but wonder if there is good inside his cold heart. The Chemistry between Rudolph and Sebastian is wonderful to watch play out.

This is a film that all the talent involved are ones to watch for in the future.

I love films like this, short wonderful films that push the limits of filmmaking. This is what it is intended for.

Watch it if you can!

I did not want it to end....
