The Costume Designer (1950)

This here is another in a series from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which was made to help explain certain jobs inside the film business like director, set designer and so on. This one here helps explain what a costume designer does and then we see one of her daily routine, which includes drawing out a costume, showing it to the writer, director and producer and then we see how her design for one person might influence others who watch the film in question. As with other movies in the series, I think this was a rather neat idea to explain to people back in the day but at the same time I can't help but think many would watch this and feel bored as to the lack of any real excitement shown. I think most people dreaming about Hollywood would probably rather be doing something else so I think the appeal of this here would be limited. Still, as a film buff, being able to see this advertisement from the AMPAS was mildly entertaining.
