Producer J.R. Bookwalter said he and director/star William Shatner had some "pretty gnarly spats" during production. Shatner was frustrated by the low budget and not used to working Full Moon style (i.e. get in, get out, move on ASAP and don't expect much from craft service). Bookwalter had to tow the line between what Shatner wanted to see on screen and keeping the bills paid, which is what led to their disagreements. He said, "Shatner and I both wanted what was best for the movie, sometimes at the expense of being friendly to each other. That just goes with the territory." Despite this, Shatner did go on to host the Full Moon-produced Full Moon's Fright Night on the Sci-Fi Channel.
A Border Patrol Agent who was patrolling the U.S. Mexico Border on horseback came upon the remote set during filming. He was offered a part in the movie by Elizabeth Martin (who later became Mrs. Elizabeth Shatner). He plays a "Man in Black" Agent arresting a local citizen as the main characters enter town and later plays the cowboy character that fights Tom Towles' character in the movie's finale.
Bill Shatner rode horseback on the U.S./Mexico border with a Border Patrol Agent (who appears in the movie in two different roles) during the filming of the movie in Bisbee, Arizona. Shatner talked about that experience in an interview on both Late Night with Conan O'Brien in 2001 and later in his autobiography "Up Till Now" (published by Thomas Dunne Books) in 2008.
J.R. Bookwalter said this film had the most experienced and well-known cast in any of the films he had produced at that point.
Filmed in 2001 but not released on video until 2003.
