This is not what BEING FREE means :)

Warning: Spoilers
*Contains spoilers* It is hard to rate this movie as evidently the story makes me forget any kind of details connected with the cinematography and movie craft. Btw, they seem to be good.

I think the flow of the movie was very smooth. So unawarely smooth that you are kind of stunned at the end: HOW did this get so far...

I felt it a bit manipulative of the author because I could not believe MOST of happened with them... Among most outstanding that Maria, who had normal jobs previously would do in principle such a drastic move as she did, I can't believe David accepted this same action from her. And everything just went on. If the main idea is showing the deteriorating of person, then the goal was reached, because getting downhill is faster than uphill, you know.

But if showing a case of autonomous, free persons who these two sweet-looking were pretending to be at the beginning, there never was a practical solution from them to show how such a hard situation could be possibly sold...

I know most of this really can happen on the streets and it is good to know as a parent.

I had a good time practicing my Spanish though, as I rented this movie from my school's library to do so :)

A pretentious drama movie
skairigi5 January 2007
The photography it's quite good, but the whole story its unbelievable. The main actors (Unax Ugalde and Pilar Lopez de Ayala) are very cute, but they don't fit on this movie, they look so posh, that is impossible for them to pretend that they are living in the street. The whole script it's very bad and pretentious, with pieces of pretentious but awful poetry, like the title of the movie. It pretends to be a drama, but during all the movie I could'nt get any emotion at all. But it's worst on the comedy scenes. The level of humour it's really low. You will like this movie, if you like phisically Unax Ugalde or Pilar Lopez de Ayala, anyway, it's interesting to watch, to see how bad it can be a movie.

The story of David and his friends living in the streets of Madrid, poverty is on there shoes but also the beauty of been free.David meets a girl called Maria in the same situation, and slowly they fall in love. But living in the streets is not always fun, they end up dealing drugs (Heroin) to earn money and soon they become addicts of this diabolic drug.

The horrors of Heroin, prostitution, freedom, friendship, love and survival is seen in this beautifully made film, Also with a beautiful sound track!

A sad and beauty film
operca2 February 2002
Some people don´t like sad film but I like them a lot when they are well done. This film is a very good movie but probably you will left the cinema with tears in your eyes. Like most of films this one describes a love story, but a love story between poor and young people. "Bailame el agua" mix drugs, prostitution, alcohol and music in good measures creating a fascinating world of the suburbs. The acting is superb especially Unax Ugalde and Pilar López de Ayala. Both give to the characters a special feelling plenty of humanity. The film never falls in thopics. You must see it. It´s a punch straight to your heart.
