This was the very first sitcom exclusively for PBS. It was produced and taped in front of a live audience at the studios for Miami's PBS member station WPBT and carried on other PBS stations nationwide.
According to executive producer Jose Bahamonde, the series did not have a budget for the set. So he decorated it with his personal belongings and item that he bought at thrift stores.
After the third season, Steven Bauer left the series to pursue a career in Hollywood. It was explained on the show that Joe left to attend Miami University in Ohio.
The show stopped production because the government grant that funded the series expired.
The series was created by Manny Mendoza who was a professor at Miami Dade College. He is not credited as the creator.
