Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. He was going to be on for five hours every day. That's how Jarvis did his radio show and he wanted to do [the same thing but on TV]. The name of the show was Hollywood on Television. They played records and in between the records they'd talk a little ... But while the record was on, the audience would see them moving around and talking to each other. After the first week they called in and they said, 'It's driving us crazy, we need to know what you're saying.' So they scrubbed the records and threw out the turntables and they would ad-lib for five hours. Well, there was only one other station on at the time so it was either us or the test pattern during the day. The show was so successful that after three weeks they extended it to [another] show on Saturday and stretched it from five hours a day to five and a half hours a day. They were on thirty-three hours a week - ad-lib."
