Lack of Funds

If you want to watch a good film in the weekend, watch out for some films that may be available at your local movie store. Maybe Feliz Ano Velho isn't the ideal movie for a weekend session; unless you want to drive yourself crazy. This was originally an autobiographical book wrote by Marcelo R. Paiva telling the story of the accident that made him paraplegic. Later, the book was made into film, starring some awesome Brazilian actors such as Marco Nanini and Eva Wilma. The film tells almost the same story from the book. Marcelo is a young man that is in college and lives with some of his friends. He dates a beautiful girl. One day they travel to a place in the countryside where there is a lake, and in an act of foolish exhibitionism – trying to imitate superman, I'd say – jumps from the top of a hill into the lake and hits a rock with his head. Even though he is immediately removed to a nearby hospital he becomes paraplegic. After the accident Marcelo's life changes. He tries to learn how to live without his legs but for some time it seems he will never make it. His friends and family gather beside him, meanwhile he remembers how his life was good before the accident with which the film begins. Excellent actors and a good story: enough to make many people want to watch it. But there's a problem: budget was too short. Bad lighting, bad scripting and some inexpressive actuations make this film impossible to watch. Seldom are films I dislike, but this one was enough to drive me crazy. Perhaps someone should do a remake.

Unfortunately this picture besides of good reviews when it come out (I don't know why...) who really read a book and watched the movie quite often had bad fellings about it, too much conversation, slow down and without life, most of time boring, maybe the book didn't offer a chance to became a movie, too hard to do it, very probably, perhaps l was wrong, but the casting is fine, the novel was a best seller, or it was definitely a bad adaptation!!!

Resume:

First watch: 2018 / How many: 1 / Source: DVD / Rating: 5

i read the book, and loved it..... its extremely easy reading, it sounds as if he's by my side telling his story to me, as a bed time story... so i was anxious to watch the movie, i had never heard of it, but if the book was so good, surely the movie wouldn't be that bad....... i was wrong..... the movie totally sux!!! the lighting sux, the sound sux, the directing sucked, and the guy that plays marcelo (or should i say mario !) totally sux..... (the only thing that saves the movie is malu mader, eva wilma and marcos nanini, and they hardly appear!!) even if you have nothing better to do....... don't. go. watch. it. ....
