Very Accurate-but misleadingly optimistic. I lived through a very similar situation and the emotional stress, and unwavering hope (of some families) is very accurately covered in this movie. What is Not covered are the devastating Financial problems, and the almost criminal legal issues faced by families when a loved one is comatose, (or worse in permanent vegetative state). Also-the problems during the recovery period, which takes years after (and IF) someone "wakes up" was not covered. The dedication and faith of the wife is typically of many whose loved one has been injured - and the Guilt and questions of morality and normality are common situations encountered. Frustrations and the many other stages of Grieving are covered, but as the movie shows the person is not dead - so there is no closure! This movie should be seen by anyone who has had someone in a coma, or has suffered concussions or lack of oxygen from car wrecks, sports injuries, falls, choking/ suffocation/ drowning, gas inhalation, drug overdoses, severe bloodloss, and several other events where the head is hit, blood is lost, or oxygen deprived.
