This is a German mockumentary that purports to tell what Alfred Hitchcock's TRUE inspiration was for his later films. The narration is in English and the people interviewed are all subtitled. According to the film, Hitchcock met an eccentric (i.e., somewhat crazy) German woman in a small town in Germany and her life and friendship with him led to PSYCHO, NORTH BY NORTHWEST and other classics. To "prove" this, a variety of photos are used (some of which are real, a few of which are a bit too obviously doctored). It's all clever and imaginative. If I have a qualm about this film is that although it's original and interesting, the joke isn't all that funny. There just isn't enough of a sense of irony or a punchline to punctuate this film. Still, there's enough to like to justify watching it--particularly if you like fake documentaries.
