'Beto Gomez' originally cast a woman to play Tia Carmela, but the actress disappeared days before her scenes. Gomez then approached Roberto Espejo, who also played one of the cops in the bank robbery sequence, and offered him the role, based upon his long experience in cabarets and nightclubs.
The characters go to assault the bank on a car that has the logo of political party PRI, accused by the Mexican people of robbing the country along the 70 years they hold the government. During the filming, two members of the PRI tried to stop the shooting by threatening the crew, but that only gave the movie unexpected and free publicity.
