My kids loved this show and so did I!

It ran on Captain Kangaroo and I remember the Captain greeting Captain Nemo and Chris and Robbie every morning. Only CBS ran anything educational like this and I appreciated it. I noticed that the writers were careful not to favor the boy over the girl but to treat them as equally smart and brave. I wish all animated shows were like that. Because it took place in the future, the Nautilus was sent on assignment by The United World Organization, not any particular super-power. I guess that's because it was made in Canada (as I now find out). Maybe because I was born in the mid-west I've always been fascinated with anything to do with the ocean.

I really liked this show

Even with its limited animation and dumb jokes at the end of each episode, it was a fun show to watch. The bad-guys who exploited the sea got nailed by the Nautilus. It was wall-to-wall music, too -- and good music. The only problem I have is with the sound mix. To say it could have been better is an understatement. But if you turn up your TV for the five minutes the show is on, it's a great ride. The writing is intelligent and the stories are interesting. Even the dumb puns are kind of amusing. It's too bad that more shows aren't made like this one. The fact that it was made in Canada shows that Canadians really make good stuff.

Charming, funny, and educational

One man's cheese is another man's charm. I remember fondly watching these shows with my two kids, and I now show them to my grandkids. The show definitely fits into that Captain Kangaroo/Mister Rogers kind of gentle fun. My kids can still remember some of the "factoids." In this day of over-hpyed, frenetic animation, complete with "edgy" humor and quick cutting, it is quite a treat to watch something gentle, fun, and educational. Like any good show, the grandkids don't mind the repetition. They like watching them over and over, and so do I. Do yourself a favor, get a bowl of popcorn, surround yourself with kids, and enjoy!

Animated education doesn't come any cheesier.

Actually, the other reviewer seems to have confused this series with another, as this was a series of animated shorts that ran on Canadian television. Most of what he says still applies however. This was a quickly forgettable series with poor animation. The idea was to attempt to educate kids about marine life. Well, I don't know how educated I came away from this series, but I sure do remember how gawd awful cheesey it was.
