Enlightening
anandkc13 June 2000
This movie is part of the triolgy of G.V.Iyer. His other works include 'Adi Sankaracharya' and 'Ramanujacharya'. This low budget movie has been completed with good historic accuracies of the date and time. In fact it looks like a documentary of sort. To understand the theme however, a deeper knowledge of the Indian philosophy is needed. As such this movie is made on one of the three greatest saints and philosophers of India in the past 2000 years! To put it in a nut shell, Madhvacharya was a saint around the time 11-12 century approximately who preached the 'Dwitha' (Two) concept. It meant that Human soul and He are not the same. This philosophy contradicted that of Shankara (900-1000 AD) who advocated the 'Aadwitha' (One or not two), which says that Human soul and God are one and the same.

The movie has been shot realistically, like the 12 century India and has only one song 'Vandevandyam'. This songs is the masterpiece of the saint which gives you a spiritual 'Kick'.

After watching this work I found all other movies to be trash...

An excellent depiction
rtoac16 March 2023
This is a Kannada language film on the life and teachings of Madhavacharya, the renowned teacher and philosopher of the Dvaita school of Vedanta.

The film is an authentic, honest and complete depiction of Madhavacharya's life and teachings. It also depicts his mystical experiences, his efforts and works and a gist of his teachings. Well edited and around 2.5 hours which is perfect for this great man's life who was closely associated with the Udupi Shree Krishna temple and Matt.

The actor playing the Acharya's role is well cast. Madhavacharya was known to be a large built and strong man and the actor fits well into the character. His performance gives one the feeling as if in the presence of the great saint himself.

Full credit to GV Iyer on this masterpiece. Kudos on the casting and direction. He got these aspects perfectly in the trilogy which includes Ramanujacharya and Adi Shankaracharya also. Somehow the film on Swami Vivekananda didn't hit the mark and came out as amateurish.

That aside, I would recommend this film highly. Only downside was that I could only find it on YouTube, and that too without subtitles.

Kannada movie on life History of "Shri Madhwacharya"
PavanKM19 July 2008
Kannada movie on life History of "Shri Madhwacharya", the only extant movie of the greatest of all philosophers that the world has ever seen. Script and Dialog by Shri Bannanje Govindacharya and Directed by Late Shri G. V. Iyer.

An astounding movie which takes you to glimpse of the spiritual heights one can perceive,

Truly an eye-opener, EVER!

One can relate to it, and feel the inbound pathway.

My sincerest respects to thou all.

A few excerpts from the movie: "Everything is complete in it's own sense, but none of them are truly complete-they are always in-complete. All bowls, cups, sorts of containers are all complete when filled with water, so are all oceans and all water bodies, but all only complete to their own extent, but all in-complete, as they only hold what they can, not all the water that may/can be, so incomplete..."(Not too accurate, but close resemblance of his dialogs)
