New Line Cinema is looking to bring the world of street basketball to the big screen as the studio has picked up the pitch Money Game and hired writer Jamal Joseph to pen the script. The project is based on an original idea from Kenyatta Slade and Gail Huggins, who will produce through their Carthage Entertainment banner. Raw Entertainment's Brian Oliver and Joseph Nittolo, who produced the Vin Diesel starrer A Man Apart for New Line, will also produce. Money Game is described as The Seven Samurai meets The Color of Money set in the world of street hoops. The project is being overseen at the studio by New Line production execs David Brewington and Richard Brener. Joseph, repped by CAA, penned the Fox television biopic Ali: An American Hero and the feature drama Drive-By: A Love Story.
