This has the scent of a good story!

CAFÉ CON AROMA DE MUJER (Coffee with the Scent of a Woman) is based on the book with the same title by Colombian author, Fernando Gaitan.

This Columbian novela is about Gaviota, a coffee field laborer and Sebastian Vallejo, the grandson of a powerful coffee businessman. When the two meet in a coffee plantation, they begin a passionate affair. They separate and eventually, Sebastian marries another woman. Gaviota decides to enter the mainly male-dominated coffee business empire. She succeeds as the first woman to work in this area. When Gaviota and Sebastian meet again, they find that their passion for each other never died. Their scenes are bittersweet, touching, romantic and humorous.

CAFÉ provides beautiful scenery as it is filmed in the areas of Quindio, Bogota, Santa Marta, San Andres, the Rosario Islands and other places in Colombia.

One of the best telenovelas....A Classic....
jcurmelife12 March 2007
It took Fernand Gaitan and the charisma of the protagonists Margarita Rosa De Francisco and Guy Ecker to elevate this simple story of a poor girl who falls in love with an handsome rich landowner to an ode to PASSION and LOVE. They brought the level of Latin soap operas to a standard unsurpassed. Thanks to the talent and gifts of the writer, actors and casts, you will be riveted in the drama, suspense, intrigue of this love affair between ONE MAN and ONE WOMAN. Sebastian: "She was born for me, I can love no other". Other gifts added is the beautiful songs sang by both Margarita and Guy, the beautiful views of the country of Colombia and the process of the making of coffee. After 12 years this Latin TV series is still drawing admirers around the world. Let this series enchant you in the culture, beautiful people, and lovely traditions of a country known for other negative stereotypes. This dramatic love story brings a new meaning to the classic phrase: "And they lived happy ever after". Now they even talk of an American copy to come. Same for Yo Soy Betty La Fea from the same author Fernand Gaitan now remade as Ugly Betty on ABC. This same story will be remade also for American viewers, let's hope they keep the coffee theme and bring Margarita and Guy to elevate again this love story. Cheers.

Best Novella of My Lifetime!
jewelofela13 January 2016
I don't watch too many novellas because most of them follow the same cookie-cutter plan but this one blew me away. The story is so smart and believable. It's got great scenery, beautiful music, and if you love coffee like I do, it's a wonderful insight on everything from how coffee is cultivated to how it's marketed. The actors are all excellent. You really root for the good guys. And, although the characters are fictional, the heroine is someone you can look up to. She was my inspiration at the age of 20 to go out and get a job and be a professional! I know there are many other memorable novellas out there, but for my lifetime... this is the one.

This original version is absolutely fantastic.

Very progressive for its time while maintaining the traditions and showing the various aspects of Colombian cultural heritage according to every region.

The beauty of the scenery, the music and the story are just beautiful !

I have only watched first 22 episodes and already think this is one of the best novelas I have ever seen! Probably first colombian novela I see and I am planning on watching more colombian novelas when I get a chance. Margarita Rosa de Francisco is great here, and Guy Ecker is good food for the eyes. Plot is very interesting and addictive to keep on watching.
