The Dracula that came out by day
Chaves777723 June 2007
Florentina, one of the most beautiful and respectable girls of Barranquilla, gives a photo of Bela Lugosi to Baldomero, an old man who loves be dressed like Dracula in the famous Barranquilla's Carnival. Happy, he gives her a smile, suddenly, Florentina's dad orders her to enter to the house immediately, then begins the carnival. "El Ultimo Carnaval" is one of the most beautiful Colombian films that i have ever seen, in spite that i have not seen much. Based on a true story, this film catches us with all the beauty of Colombia, showing us the spectacular Atlántico, the music, the culture and that Carnival that we cant forget.

The story is based in a real facts years before, when a man who dressed up like Dracula, due to the quantity of time in that it represented it, he turns to believe that he was a real vampire, so he took his hard fake teeth, and bite a girls in her neck. "El Ultimo Carnaval" or its English title "The Last Carnival: A True Story" based in this fact, told us the story of Baldomero, who loves be dressed like Dracula for this beautiful Carnival. But, now, in the nights he wakes up and decides o change the crucifix for a vampire of toy. Then he liked more the caskets that the beds. Something strange has to be happening. For other side is Florentina, a beautiful girl who is in loved of the new boy in the city. But her strict father orders her to be away of him. Florentina decides to talk with Baldomero, one of her friends. Both share a great friendship. In the city they don't make more than murmur. The day begins, the Carnival begins... Dracula is ready to begin his journey. The cast in "El Ultimo Carnaval" is outstanding: Jorge Cao as Baldomero, Jennifer Steffens as his wife and Ana Milena Londoño as Marcelina.

"El Ultimo Carnaval" is a optimistic film. At the first look, you can think that is a horror film, maybe another clone of any lousy vampire film, but here is different. The touch is more soft, is not horror. Is a tender movie with a catching story about the interest of each human been. Maybe, the style sometimes get wrong, but after all... is still wonderful.

*Sorry for the mistakes... well, if there any.
