Weird and irreverent though also with perhaps too many plot twists

Warning: Spoilers
For a short film, TWITCH sure has a lot crammed into it...perhaps too much. The original story idea isn't bad, but the film seems to take too many detours along the way and after a while it lost me. Still, the film isn't bad and for a young film maker, it's a pretty decent effort.

The story begins with a nerdy guy meeting his neighbor in a nearby apartment. Later, she comes to his door crying. You find out that she's a prostitute and her pimp has hurt her, so the man gives her shelter. However, soon the pimp arrives and attacks the innocent man. Ultimately, the pimp is killed by the prostitute as the neighbor is getting beaten. So far, this is pretty exciting stuff. However, when the neighbor realizes that maybe this was a setup, he STILL agrees to help the prostitute get rid of the body. The WHY is never answered. After all, the pimp was beating him and killing the pimp to stop this beating seemed quite justified. So why hide the evidence? Why not just call the police? After this, the man works hard to dismember the body and then, out of no where, come some humorous little dream sequences that made me laugh but seemed a bit out of place.

My opinion is that the idea was good, but they should have worked out why the neighbor didn't call the police and why this seemingly ordinary guy would dismember a corpse just because the prostitute batted her eyes at him. Plus, the dream sequences didn't fit the dark and suspenseful mood. They should have either made the whole film a drama or spiced it up throughout with humor.

For a young film director, however, the effort wasn't bad and the film can be enjoyed. I just wish the plot had been cleaned up a bit.

It shows you that if you want to make people laugh, you have to be serious about it.

Bloody amazing! That's all I can say about this movie. In less than 20 minutes it beats the crap out of many feature films. It shows you that if you want to make people laugh, you have to be serious about it. This is a story that works extremely well and keeps you involved every single second, you can't even blink. On top of that, you have humour all the way through, but it's a bonus really; if it wasn't there, the story would still work as a horror film anyway. The good thing is that every time you think the plot is about turn into some sort of cliché, it surprises you with something new.

The editing and the camera angles are pretty cool. There are many shots from the floor level or even below (inside drains, toilet, etc.), they make you feel you're stuck down there, which makes perfect sense when you see the film. It gives you the sensation you know more than the characters, which is the only way suspense can work.

The acting is pretty good too; the guy that plays the pimp is brilliant and Dave, the main character, made me laugh all the way through. Barry Crocker playing a quiz show host is a real legend!
