Sex & Nudity

  • Some of the female characters like Ayla have skimpy dresses showing her stomach but no nudity is shown.
  • Characters sometimes talk about sleeping with other characters, its all pretty mild and never is sex actually mentioned.
  • Frog warns everybody about "Flea the magician" not an ordinary woman and "Flea" mentions that she's actually a guy. This was the first time a Transgender character was introduced in a Super Nintendo game.

Violence & Gore

  • Animated fantasy/action violence. Nothing explicit.
  • Some minor blood is seen on the ground of some dungeons, its all pretty minor.
  • The castle guards can be seen knocking out Chrono on the floor before he winds up in jail.
  • Lavos the giant turtle monster can be seen attacking the world with his fire bombs in the year 1999 AD before the world ends up in ruins 301 years later.

Profanity

  • In the original SNES and Playstation 1 game the word "Bloody" and "Bugger" is used which the people in the United Kingdom may consider offensive.
  • "Damn", "Hell" "Damnation" and "Damnable" are used sometimes in the Nintendo DS remake and used in the Android, iOS and Steam remake.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking

  • in the Super Nintendo, Playstation 1 Version
  • in the Nintendo DS, Android, and iPad Version
  • In the SNES version, after the party at Aylas village is over. Lucca mentions that her tummy hurts although it's unknown if she ate too much or drank too much.
  • The main character, who is a minor, consumes alcohol in a few scenes of the game, however this is not glorified in any way. The Super Nintendo version removes the alcohol reference. The Nintendo DS and Playstation versions keeps it intact.

  • There's a cutscene where Chrono sacrifices himself to Lavos and Lavos attacks the floating islands in the kingdom of zeal and it causes them to collaspe into the ocean and then the tidal wave comes and floods the village but later on the village survives.
