A good try
Manu-2919 August 2002
Hi,

I wait so long to watch the movie, and when I finally saw it, it didn't satisfy me. I think that's it' a good try for an argentine animation film (and thank god, different from the ones García Ferré makes). There some things that don't have an explanation about why characters do certain things or how they know things. There is a lot of failures on the script. For the animation 2-D and 3-D there are some good and some bad. In the voices, which is a fundamental part, there is a lack on directing the actors. The voices don't match the characters. There are like plain, without emotions. Only Phazir, done by Mally, seems to be doing this. Also the dialogue is kind of childish. Overall if you are argentine, it's still worth watching but don't expect too much from the movie.

The chance that wasn't.

Talking about animation business, Argentina is an almost virgin field, wich it doesn't means that there's no people working on it. There are many talented workers that suffers to develop a solid industry some day, but few TV&Movies businessmen are ready to take the "risk" and help them. The Patagonik Group, producers of Condor Crux, had a very rare chance, and they let it go. How? Why?. Because they never had clear which people was their "target" -yes "target", all the time weren't thinking about cuality, but quick selling- and didn't reach none. Isn't a children movie, 'cause the language used is a little bit more complicated. Isn't a teen movie, 'cause the animation is poor (2-D animation makes you laught, or cry, i don't know wich; anyway, it's unforgiven). And isn't an adult movie because the dialogues are ridiculous; the script, absurd (in the worst way); the voices chosen for the characters, hopeless (the amasonian native -Leticia Brédicce's voice- has an Buenos Aires accent that makes me remember old western movies, when indians were played by anglo-saxon actors). But, but, i believe that isn't a complete waste. There were some interesting renders, and, over all mistakes, i save the bravery needed to finish this kind of project. I hope that animation in Argentina get a revenge.

Oh my God...

Some things I learned by watching "Cóndor Crux":

1) If you cannot afford to make a good animation movie, don't make it. The drawing is simply ugly, and the contrast with the 3-D images makes it look even worse.

2) Don't try to sell a movie with a great soundtrack that has nothing to do with your plot. I remember a scene that wasn't about love with a very romantic song. What's the point? Just using famous musicians?

3) Don't waste your actor's talent with bad voice directing. I know some of the actors from other movies and I know that they're better than that.

4) The importance of naturalness. The whole movie is ankward because of the lack of natural dialogues.

5) Most of all, a movie has to have a good plot!!! I remember having left the cinema ANGRY!

A South American attempt to do Titan A.E.
MAP-312 June 2003
There are a lot of coincidences between Cóndor Crux and Titan A.E. You can see a mix of 2D and 3D animation. There is a future society with spaceships used as cars. Some local rock stars were included in the soundtrack. It's not intended for kids, but they can enjoy it. There's some kind of romance for the "good guy". Besides that, there's the "argentinian touch". You can see that everything in the movie is made by and made for argentine people. There are lots of details put there only for someone who knows Buenos Aires. If you've never been there, you can enjoy the movie, but if you see the futuristic buildings, you can recognize ever little detail from today's city. Good music, some action, a really bad guy, a hero, a lady and some kind of epic story. That's what Cóndor Crux is.
