The Films of Bette Gordon is a five-program series on at New York's Anthology Film Archives through Sunday. "The series includes two of Gordon's landmark works, Variety (1984 [image above]) and The United States of America (1975)," notes Amy Taubin for Artforum. "The latter was co-directed by James Benning, Gordon's boyfriend at the time.
