A very impressive debut by newcomer Lyn Clinton, who films this southern period drama with a refreshingly literate touch. Haunting photography, impressive production design (on a low budget), together with a solid music score and good performances by mostly newcomers, make this one well worth seeing. The pacing is slowed down, which this viewer found a welcome alternative to the overhyped MTV style of most new films. The pacing helps the story build to an effective climax, and "Sky" has the feel of a good southern novel. Kudos to Clinton on her debut. I look forward to the next one.
