David Cassidy, who recently exclusively revealed to People that he is battling dementia, broke out at age 20 as a musician and live performer of enormous talent and charisma.
He quickly became one of the biggest stars in the world for a decade and only recently announced he’d stop touring as a musician to focus on his health. But, Cassidy tells People that, even as he struggles with memory loss, “I can still sit in my living room with my guitar and play like I did when I was 17.”
Below, nine clips across Cassidy’s career that show exactly why...

Halloween is a time when regular folk allow themselves to see the world as us horror lovers do – weird and wonderful, sinister mischief with tongue in cheek under (and over) tones. They watch that scary movie they’ve been meaning to get to for the past year, string up skeletons, and parade around at office parties in the latest ironic costumes (expect tons of Trumps and Weiners this year). But for the fearful faithful, this is our workaday; we watch the films daily, display our rooms with terror trinkets, and dress up as our favourite icons at constant conventions around the globe. So what separates the actual day of Halloween from our normal routine? TV viewing, of course.
‘Tis the season when every station trots out horror programming, sometimes for weeks on end leading up to and including the big night. A lot of this is for Johnny and Jane...

For a band that’s been around for as long as Weezer has, they sure know how to remain relevant and topical. The alternative rockers just released their patriotic music video for “I Love The USA,” right in the midst of election season – and what better way to scream “America” than to dress Patton Oswalt up in the nation’s colors?
The music video, which was directed by Scantron (the brains behind Panic! At The Disco’s latest video, “La Devotee”), stars the comedian in the leading role, which shows him lip-syncing the track throughout the Oval Office shredding on a red, white, and blue guitar. The band makes a brief appearance towards the end of the video as Secret Service agents, helping end Oswalt’s reign as impromptu president.
The song joins “Thank God For Girls,” “King of the World,” and “L.A. Girlz” as tracks from the band...

Jared Leto got up close and personal with Coachella performer Halsey (née Ashley Frangipane) at the star-studded music festival on Sunday. The actor, 44, was all smiles as he playfully wrapped his arm around Halsey's neck and pretended to pull her backwards as they walked around the park. And the singer didn't seem to mind - Halsey was seen laughing as she held on to Leto's arms. Leto and Halsey, 21, were also spotted standing together while watching a performance. Adam Miller Who Would Give His Only Song Away (Chelsea Records)
When Wes Farrell, the man who penned the perennial evergreen "Hang On Sloopy," and was overseer to the phenomenal chart successes of the Partridge Family and David Cassidy, set up his own record label in 1972, his maiden release wasn't a sure fire pop confection. He began proceedings with an exquisitely crafted collection of psych outsider introspection. Adam Miller, his new discovery and recipient of this gracious act of faith didn't set the world aflame, he didn't even darken it's edge, and today remains unknown, his album the victim of at best a misreading of the small print one is required to field when stumbling across an artist with no fame attached to the name above the title, more than four decades after the event. Chelsea Records became an outlet for pop and disco, especially the wonderfully camp and catchy Disco Tex and his Sexolettes,...

The Sundance Film institute has released the line-up of film for the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. Going to Sundance is one of my favorite events of the year. I love going because you never know what kind of movies you're going to see. Sometimes they are great films that amaze and entertain, other times they completely suck ass, but that's all part of the fun of going to the festival. It's an awesome experience for any hardcore movie geek, and if you ever get a chance to go, you need to.
The event takes place in Park City, Utah next year from January 21st to the 31st. It looks like there's a great line-up of movies at next year's event. My favorite portion of the event is the Midnight section because it deals more with geeky genre type movies, but I also enjoy the various sections of other line-ups.

Warning: There might be some words and posters that could be deemed Nsfw. I wouldn’t want anyone getting fired for such a reason.
How does one go about writing a book review? That is a question I’ve dealt with all my life. I’ve gotten a few film related books in my time, delving deep into information about specific genres of film or about a director or an actor. Those types of books you can find a beginning, middle and an end. But Robin Bougie’s fantastic new book, a sequel to the amazing first Graphic Thrills book, which delves into film posters of pornographic films from 1970 – 1985, was going to be tricky.
The reason it was going to be tricky was that it was going to be me gushing (poor choice of word?) about the amazing posters he featured, while he gave great insight into the particular films,...

Those seeking a groove-tastic immersion in a gritty 1970s crime drama will want to pop Criterion’s new burn of The Friends of Eddie Coyle into the nearest blu-ray player. Directed with a cool efficiency by master storyteller Peter Yates, the film is a tale of small time hoods and the sketchy federal marshals who pursue them. Told under the gray, heavy skies of Boston, it depicts a working class world of tiny clapboard houses and chain link fences, with massive land yacht automobiles cruising its wet, glistening streets. With Dave Grusin’s funky yet foreboding score providing Fender Rhodes twinkles and wah-wah pedal counterpoint, The Friends of Eddie Coyle unfolds as a fine example this decade’s unique sub genre: Disco Noir.
Based on a best selling novel by George V. Higgins, The Friends of Eddie Coyle was chiefly a vehicle for Hollywood legend Robert Mitchum, who at the...

It's Latin Night on "Dancing with the Stars," dance fans, and I was preparing myself for a night of slightly raunchy choreography. I'm so happy to say, it wasn't like that at all. Even the great opening number (choreographed again by Mandy Moore) and the post-break in-betweeners have more actual dancing and less strutting and posing than they did last season.
Tom Bergeron is his usual hysterical self, and even Erin Andrews is getting more comfortable with the gig, getting some good jokes in. At week three, the judges are getting pickier, and the contestants have come down a little after last week's stellar round. But they've all rallied pretty well, and some dancers are still leading the pack.
Let's check out My Top 5:
Rumer & Val's Disco Salsa: Rumer and Val start the night off with a bang and a smoking hot Disco Salsa. She's awesome, and clearly fearless,...

With series eight’s Deep Breath fast approaching, there are questions all Dw fans will be asking – perhaps none as pressing as “What new bag of tricks will Murray Gold be bringing to the theme song?” While we all wait with bated breath, why not take a gander at these variations on Ron Grainer’s immortal work?
Doctor Who Theme – Gallifrey Remixes (Dominic Glynn and Syzygy)
Dominic Glynn’s theme from Trial Of A Timelord is an 80s effort that’s worn well for this writer, particularly the way Glynn sneaks in a new array of far-out soundscapes. This remix, originally performed at L.A.’s Gallifrey One convention, features four upgrades of Glynn’s ‘Trial’ theme, as produced with Syzygy (a.k.a. Justin Mackay). It takes a...

Given his overstuffed and eclectic list of projects – which includes Gorillaz, Gnarls Barkely, Beck, The Black Keys, Norah Jones, and U2 – it's hard to imagine that Danger Mouse has time to prioritize his favorite collaborators, much less choose them. But the songwriter and producer who catapulted mash-ups into the popular consciousness with "The Grey Album," his blend of Jay-z's "Black Album" and The Beatles' "White Album," confesses that Broken Bells, his ongoing partnership with Shins front man James Mercer, ranks high on that extraordinary list. "I’d been waiting a long time to do the second album," Danger Mouse, whose real name is Brian Burton, told Indiewire about "After the Disco," Broken Bells' sophomore release. "It's like my main gig, so I was kind of waiting to put myself creatively all of the way into it." And now that ambition has attracted film talent as well. Burton and Mercer...

Nile Rodgers has worked alongside David Bowie, Michael Jackson and Madonna. He is the pop mastermind behind Chic. And he's proved this year that he's still got a magical musical touch thanks to some work with daft mask-wearing, French dance geniuses Daft Punk.
In short, Nile Rodgers is a genius.
So how do we, the great British public repay Nile Rodgers? How do we repay the man who gave us the joyous beauty of 'Le Freak' and 'Good Times'? We repay him by making him play as the backing band for Dermot O'Leary's dance moves on X Factor. Shame on us, Britain. Shame On Us.
Introduced as 'a producer to the stars', Nile is now performing for Louis Walsh and a frazzled-looking Nicole Scherzinger. His reward? A piercing, insightful and engaging interview from Dermot O'Leary. "So [Nile], what are you doing at the moment?" Erm, maybe not.

Disco! Who doesn't love it, eh? Well, one of tonight's acts probably won't be feeling so fond of the good times or the boogie by the end of the evening as another X Factor elimination looms.
With the Flash Vote gone, not only are audiences deprived of bursts of Queen at regular and inappropriate intervals during live shows, but we have absolutely no bloomin' idea who's going to be in the sing-off tonight. Could there be Deadlock drama on the horizon? We will have to wait and see.
One thing's for sure - expect performances from 2011 X Factor winners Little Mix and trouble herself, Ms Taylor Swift. Join Digital Spy from 8pm to find out who's going home.
20:57Next week, we are to expect a full orchestra, Robbie Williams and Celine Dion. But it's the End of the (Kingsland) Road for Josh, Matt, Jay, Thompson and Connor - and their busy patterned shirts.

Nicole Scherzinger was not drunk during The X Factor's Disco Week live show on Saturday (November 2), a show insider has told Digital Spy.
Some viewers of the talent competition speculated on social media that the X Factor judge could have been inebriated during Saturday's episode, with attention being drawn to her enthusiastic demeanour.
An X Factor insider told Digital Spy that Scherzinger was "just getting into the disco spirit" during the live show.
"After watching the girls in rehearsals she was really confident all were going to have a fantastic night," the production source added.
"Before going into studio, Nicole was dancing with her team in her dressing room, playing disco classics while she got ready for the show."
Scherzinger was also in good spirits due to having flown her family in from Hawaii to watch The X Factor this weekend, according to the insider.

Up until now, Luke has been a bit of a boring clichéd faux-rock-popper. But it was only tonight, when he took on 'Play That Funky Music', that we felt as though we saw a more polished and dare we say - whisper it in case Louis hears - credible performer…
Sam Bailey - 'No More Tears (Enough is Enough)'
Ah, Sam Bailey. The last 'Over' standing, and up until now has been well and thoroughly slapped with the 'Mature Lady Ballad Singer' stamp. But a sexy sequined jumpsuit, some cracking moves and an up-tempo tune later and suddenly she seems less Tesco Mary,...

It may be Movie Week but there'll be no Hollywood ending for one X Factor act tonight as the third contestant is sent packing.
We already know Miss Dynamix are in the sing-off (#prayformissdynamix) after coming bottom in the Flash Vote, but who will join them and face being unceremoniously thrown out into that storm everyone's talking about?
Well, probably not Sam Bailey according to you lot, but given there were more flops than blockbusters last night (we're looking at you, Callahan), we'd say quite a few of them should be practising their losing speech right now.
Join Digital Spy from 8pm as we find out who is going home. Leave your comments below, tweet us - just don't be a stranger, guys.
21:00And that's it for tonight! Thanks for reading. Next week it's Disco Week! With appearances from Nile Rodgers and Chic, Little Mix and Taylor Swift with Gary Lightbody from Snow Patrol.

In the department of pet names that don't require deep metaphorical interpretation, there is Judas, a wolf – yes, a wolf! – that Jared Leto used to own. "He never hung with the dogs," recalls the rock star (his band, Thirty Seconds to Mars, just played a triumphant show at the Hollywood Bowl) and actor (he stars in the acclaimed new Dallas Buyers Club). "He always had one eye on the hills. Such a special animal, and a killer. One time, I had rolled down the window in the car. He jumped out,...

Bastards [Les salauds] begins, like Garrel's Un été brûlant, at night, with a suicide. An explanation for the gesture will never come, although, through the film's near imperceptible ellipses, it comes close. A film of profoundly somber gloam, of loneliness and anger and even stifled madness, of complicity and solitude, its sadness is almost absolute.
A torrid string connects a cast predominantly made up from Claire Denis' family of actors: Vincent Lindon, Michel Subor, Alex Descas, Grégoire Colin. There are so many of them that they stand out as coming from somewhere before, some shared place, and their figures seem at once human and also something more so, grander, archetypal. (Lola Créton creates a similar effect in a small role with such a brief but so recognizable presence that it both reaches outside the story, as well as expanding something within.

The 6th annual Minneapolis Underground Film Festival makes its move into October this year where it will be screening on Oct. 3-6 at the St. Anthony Main Theater. The fest, while screening new films from all over, does a fantastic job of screening movies by local Minnesota filmmakers.
Some of these locally produced films include Mark Nielson’s spooky road trip flick Land of Sky Blue Water; Adam Jacobs’ suspense comedy Weekend Hat, which was also produced entirely by high school students; Dave Ash’s sci-fi drama Connected, which is co-directed by Paul von Stoetzel, whose short film Twisted Sister screens before the feature; Donny West’s autobiographical documentary Dazzle (The Donny West Story); and Phil Holbrook’s drama Tilt. There are also loads of short film programs featuring work by local filmmakers.

We sometimes find comedy in the least likely and or most unintentional places. But, that which is subtly satirical, or unintentionally humorous is often funnier than anything that is overtly playing for laughs. Some of the greatest examples of these types of comedy can be found in dance sequences within a variety of our favorite horror films. There is just something undeniably humorous about films that call for a dance breakdown amidst mass hysteria. Unfortunately, over the top dance numbers are not as prevalent in contemporary horror cinema as they were back in the heyday. So, to pay tribute to some of our favorites, here are our picks for the seven most awesomely bad dance sequences in eighties horror cinema. Stage Fright (1987) The Giant Owl Dance in Stagefright Easily one of the most bizarre dance sequences in film history, let alone horror film history, this garish segment plays out like...

I believe Michael Scott perfectly summed up today’s emotions when he stated, “Well, this is gonna hurt like a motherf—er.”
The final day of both The Office and my Dundies extravaganza is upon us, and needless to say, it’s an emotional one. Among the last batch of personalized Dunder Mifflinite honors are the very best of Jim and Pam, Dwight and Pam, and even Kelly and Ryan.
But that’s not all: Members of the Office cast — including Rainn Wilson and Jenna Fischer – are also on hand (scroll way down) to give out their own special set of Dundies.

I don't know what's going on nowadays, but these podcasts are getting really long. Today's clocks in just under two hours as we talk even more Iron Man 3, look at the new DVD and Blu-ray releases, talk about seeing trailers for Man of Steel and The Hangover Part III and some stories from last night's screening of The Great Gatsby. Of course, from there we answer your questions and voicemails, play some games and shuffle off into the sunset. I want to remind you that you can call in and leave us your comments, thoughts, questions, etc. directly on our Google Voice account, which you can call and leave a message for us at (925) 526-5763, which may be even easier to remember at (925) 5-bnl-pod. Just call, leave us a voice mail and we'll add those to the show and respond directly. An alternative to that option is a new...

While the original Plants vs. Zombies had a wonderful premise and addicting gameplay, what most people remember fondly is its fantastic sense of humor. From 70's Disco Zombies to Crazy Dave, the title just oozed fun. Since it released back in 2009, PopCap has been busy porting it to pretty much every platform known to man. In the background, however, they have been hard at work on its sequel, fittingly known as Plants vs. Zombies 2, which will be released in July of this year. No screens or gameplay videos yet, but what we do have is a pretty entertaining teaser trailer.
Peep the trailer below and let us know what your craziest ideas are for new plants and zombie units in the comments! Personally, I was a big fan of Potato Mines, so maybe something like Sweet Potato C4 (which would explode on the same spot on all three lanes). ...

Gippi, the forthcoming teen comedy from Dharma Productions, hits the screen 10 May 2013. It stars a handful of new faces and has a debutant director, Sonam Nair, at its helm. Gippi features the music of Vishal Dadlani & Shekhar Ravjiani, returning after yet another successful collaboration with Dharma, Student of the Year, previously Dostana and I Hate Luv Stories. Limp Bizkit is back, and ready to go.
The band has released a new six-minute track called "Ready To Go," and it is a doozy. Featuring Lil Wayne, the song centers on the lyric, "Is that your b----h? 'Cause she tell me she ready to go."
Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst then starts swinging, taking hits at various female celebrities including Lady Gaga ("I'm so poker-faced, ladies going gaga") and Jessica Biel ("B----h, get at me if that ass is like Jessica Biel"). Durst also takes on Britney Spears, who the rocker claimed to have had sex with, rapping, "That's right, it's Freddy D, the public enemy, you know that one that has Britney droppin' to her knees."
Lil Wayne, who is part of the Cash Money records group Limp Bizkit is now signed to, makes his contribution to the song with a rap verse beginning, "What the f--k is up?...

It used to be that you had to dig out a bin of old clothes, photo albums, and diaries to truly remember just how silly an earlier era was. Now forgotten fashions, celebrities, and trends are just a YouTube search away — and no matter how much you think you remember of, say, the eighties or nineties, it's always a shock to be confronted with the fact that pop culture was even more delightfully silly than you'd recalled. I recently spelunked down into a YouTube wormhole and returned with five videos that make the eighties and nineties feel like a fever dream. Click on for a creepy TV special from the Playboy Mansion (with leering host Richard Dawson and the Village People!), an ad for Full House dolls, and a game-show moment Alec Baldwin would likely want scrubbed off the Internet. Off we go into the not-as-way-back-as-you'd-think machine!Playboy's Roller-Disco...

2012 has been an astoundingly brilliant year for Bollywood’s male singers. Needless to say the following 5 gentlemen soared above their talented colleagues and made an unmistakable mark upon the face of Indian music.
5. Ayushman Khurana
One film and one song old, yet Ayushman cannot be more of a rockstar. Sure the man can act and hold a film on his shoulders, but who knew he could sing as well. Paani Da Rang, a sweet and simple Punjabi track took the audiences by storm with only one complaint, we were left hankering for more. Here’s hoping 2013 changes that.
4. Amit Trivedi & Vishal Dadlani
Both Mr. Trivedi and Mr. Dadlani are jacks-of-all-trades in that they successfully score chartbusting albums and have the pipes to match. Mr. Trevedi’s genius refusal to stick to the norm gives us inconceivable fusions but it’s his earthy vocals that surprise you more. Be it ‘Wakda...

#30: Cloud Atlas
Directed by Tom Tykwer, Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski
Written by Tom Tykwer, Andy Wachowski and Lana Wachowski
Cloud Atlas is essentially a patchwork of narratives thematically linked with minor coincidences and recurring symbolism. With six stories spanning several centuries, Cloud Atlas explores how the actions and consequences of individual lives impact one another throughout the past, the present and the future. As a parable of how we are all connected, each protagonist in Cloud Atlas wrestles with some form of oppression, based on either gender, age, race, sexual orientation, genetics and so on. In 1850, a young American lawyer sailing on a ship through the South Pacific is slowly being poisoned by a doctor who wants the treasure of gold he is hiding. In the 1930s, an inspiring composer follows his dreams while recounting his journey via love letters to his gay lover. A journalistic potboiler set...

“Peter,” he grumbled at the young man standing in the driveway. “I told you not to call me that when I’m out of the suit.”
“Sorry, Bats! Forgot,” Peter Parker replied merrily.
Bruce groaned inwardly. Here we go again, he thought. “Peter, what are you doing here?” he asked.
“I came to keep you company on the drive!” said Peter. “Plus, you know… Alfred thought if I didn’t, you might not come.”

Having a rotten mother will fuck you up.Twenty years after Mrs. Bates' incessant badgering and criticizing of a weak willed Norman turned him into a psychotic terror, Joseph Ellison's Don't Go in the House unleashed another unhinged mama's boy in Disco Donny. Arrow Video's budget label, Arrowdrome, brings this nasty little underseen gem to UK DVD uncut for the first time. A blatant riff on Alfred Hitchcock's adaptation of Robert Bloch's Psycho (itself inspired by the gruesome real-life story of Ed Gein), Don't Go in the House exceeds it's predecessor in terms of blood and gore by a country mile, while throwing in bits and pieces of other more contemporary films like Saturday Night Fever. Don't Go in the House is definitely one that every...

There's something refreshing about seeing Justice perform. In a time when popular party music is overrun with shiny, overly clean progressive house tracks and hard-driving dubstep, the French duo provides an energetic bridge between feel-good vibes and aggressive dance rock. But that's because, as they say, they're not a dance group and never made a single club song.

As Avengers continues to dominate at the box office, many in Hollywood are undoubtedly hard at work trying to put their fingers on just what it is about the film that has triggered such a massive fan response. Yes, it’s well written, yes, it’s fun, and yes, it comes from a known property, but one of the most important ingredients to the success of Avengers is the legwork Marvel put in to establishing their Universe. After the past several years of Marvel summer blockbusters, fans have a built-in connection with the film and the characters therein. They’ve seen corners of this world in each of the films leading up to Avengers which has only piqued their interest to see how each of these pieces come together and play off of each other.
This attention to detail and world-building over several films is incredibly rare in cinema, but far more common in television.

Why? Well, after voting in the Sweet 16 closed Tuesday at midnight, we bid farewell to both Mmm favorites (30 Seconds to Mars and Linkin Park — you will be missed) and proverbial flies in the ointment (Semi Precious Weapons, F---ed Up, we're sad to see you go), leaving us with only the biggest and baddest bands in the land. And now, finally, they're facing each other, with a spot in the Final Four on the line.

And with matchups that include Evanescence vs. Linkin Park, Paramore vs. 30 Seconds to Mars and Green Day vs. James Durbin, this year's Sweet 16 is shaping up to be one for the ages. And if your favorite band is still alive, you can help them move one step closer to the Mmm title by voting now.
