- Tanya's outfit is skintight and rather revealing.
- One of her fatalities involved her leaping onto her opponent's shoulders, clutching his/her head between her thighs. Some could see this as sexual in nature.
Violence & Gore

- Compared to Mortal Kombat 3, this is much more violent and gory.
- Considerable effort was made to make the game darker and more serious in tone than MK3, removing the Babalities and Friendships.
- Fatalities still play a prominent role in the game, involving depictions of dismemberment, decapitation, full-body explosions and copious bloodshed.
- Fighters can now pull out large weapons, such as swords, hammers and clubs, and fight their opponents with them as well as with their fists and feet.
