I Do Remember This Show
richard.fuller15 May 2012
Warning: Spoilers
For some reason, the title just doesn't sound right. But this is it. Hosted by Eubanks, it was on the heels of Wheel of Fortune II; trying to find another game show that would do what Sajak had done.

What a time the 80s was.

Bob was going to have TWO Vanna Whytes. Their names were Lacy and Susanne (or did he do another game show? really don't care).

The episode I've always remembered is the 'celebrity' show with men vs. women; Betty White, Jayne Meadows and couldn't remember it was Vicki Lawrence for the women, against Bill Cullen, Tom Poston and Roy Thinnes. Or was it Jamie Farr? Totally strange moment when Betty raised an objection to something Vicki had guessed, which turned out correct, and Betty wouldn't explain her objection (havent we all been in this spot?) so the next time Betty answered, Vicki followed up with the same loud objection.

Jayne Meadows wanted to object to a guess about Big Ben being a bell and not a clock, as she said, but no one was listening.

I remember 'non-celebrity' episodes as well.

There was two elderly people, a man and a woman, and a younger woman, kind of like Lori Beth off Happy Days. All three of them really smiled the entire time they were on there. They seemed as dumb as dirt, but they won! It didn't seem no matter what they were asked, one of them knew the answer. Funniest one was a question about the soap All My Children. What was the name of Opal Gardner's beauty salon? The young woman knew it.

Bob asked the older woman to pick a question or category. She came across rather brusk. Bob pointed it out to her. Next time she had to pick a category, she picked one all flowery. It was hilarious.

And there was a young woman named Pilar in another episode. Her English was good, but heavily accented. Bob said he loved listening to her and it was fun.

Finally they were (obviously!) asked who was the George Washington of South America.

Of course, Pilar knew it. Simon Bolivar! Something about Bob just didn't set well. Seemed like he was slumming and would rahter have been on the golf cart. Saw a pic of him in Us magazine on the golf cart.

Not surprised the show was cancelled.

One of the most underrated game shows!

Although I wasn't born during its original run and I never saw it during GSN's pre-1997 dark period, I think "Trivia Trap" was an underrated show that should be revived. Why? Because now that I have a few episodes from when GSN reran episodes of "Trivia Trap" from Jan. 2003-Mar. 2003, this show is very awesome and very mid-80s! The theme music is now one of my personal favorites and even though it was a regrettable move on the producers part in altering the format midway through its run, it still was a very interesting show! BTW, did I mention that the sound effects it used were used on previous and future Goodson show like the sound effect for when a team got an answer right in the first round (it was later used on "Classic Concentration") or when a team hits the trivia trap (it was the bad choice sound effect on "TPiR's" pricing game, Pathfinder). ABC unfortunately cancelled this and replaced it with the awful "All-Star Blitz"!

Really An Underrated Game Show!
ShelbyTMItchell5 December 2013
Warning: Spoilers
This is the last of the Mark Goodson original game shows. As I remember this as 10-year old. As it shows two teams where the red sweater team are the seniors of people in their forties and the blue sweater team are the juniors that are 40 and younger.

There they have to answer each trivia question and they compete to get up to $1,000. Where they play True or False or Fact or Fiction in the revamp of the game show.

Then it was the trivia race ladder. Where they compete for $10,000. As the three people were went as a team. Now were on their own. In order to get to that ladder of $10,000.

Too bad that the show was opposite the Price is Right. As if it was not, it would had lasted a couple of years. Really loved the show.
