One year after Cilla Black tried her hand at sitcom with 'Cilla's Comedy Six', she was back with a new series. 'Cilla's World Of Comedy' was in some respects the second series of 'Cilla's Comedy Six', once again shown by ATV. More or less the same team of players were brought in and Ronnie Taylor yet again provided the scripts. Sadly, Taylor must have been fresh out of good ideas as the series this time around was nothing but a stinker.
I cannot deliver a completely informative review on this show as I gave up on it half way through. The lack of good material was a real off putter, not to mention the fact that Cilla Black is no great shakes as an actress. Both Victoria Wood and Paul Merton suffered from a similar problem when they tried to head their own anthology sitcoms.
Cilla never did another another comedy series after this. She would later stick to hosting shows of the 'Blind Date' ilk. Sadly, she died in 2015 following a stroke. She was 72.
