The vehicle's registration number is JOH 999, which is a genuine Victorian registration. The letters in this registration are for John Hunter and the number was chosen to signify the Nine Network.
The opening titles used for the first 14 episodes included a clever shot taken of the then President of the United States of America, Lyndon B. Johnson, on his visit to Australia. The shot pans from the President to a watchful John Hunter in the crowd.
Episodes 1-4 and 6-14 (episode 5 is missing from the archives) were released on DVD by Crawford Productions in December 2018.
At one point, Australian oil company Ampol, who sponsored the series in the first year, planned a national advertising campaign which, if it had gone ahead, would have seen the faces of Tony Ward and Fernande Glynn appear on every Ampol petrol pump in Australia.
