For Keanu Reeves, the foreboding shadow of violence has loomed large over his reputation as Mr. Nicest Guy in Hollywood ever since he retracted out of Oliver Stoneʼs Platoon in 1986. His decision to avoid on-screen brutality lasted all but 8 years before his action-man persona took over Hollywood and charmed critics and fans alike in the adrenaline-chasing blockbuster Speed in 1994.
What followed soon after was a gallery of his lifeʼs work encompassed within the works of the Wachowskisʼ The Matrix trilogy (1999-2003), Constantine (2005), 47 Ronin (2013), and most importantly, the franchise of John Wick (2014-present).

Zack Snyder’s time over at the DC Studios will never be forgotten by his fans and neither will his Dceu trilogy which includes, Man of Steel, Dawn of Justice, and Justice League. Ever since the filmmaker left the superhero universe to move onto bigger and better things, fans have been hoping that he’d one day return to direct some of their favorite superheroes at least one more time. As of now though, this seems like a far-fetched dream.
Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
Out of the entire trilogy, the Knightmare sequences seem to be some of the most beloved and iconic to the fans, and rightly so. However, the scenes almost never made it to the screens as Warner Bros. executives were not very keen on keeping them in the film. Luckily, Zack Snyder had the perfect response for them which led to the scenes not getting cut.

As much as certain fans couldn't get enough of Zack Snyder's take on the world-famous pantheon of DC superheroes, his trilogy of franchise films always held a glimpse of the original blockbuster epic that has been bubbling up inside of him. Think of those explosive, Krypton-set action scenes in "Man of Steel," the so-called "Knightmare" dream sequence in "Batman v Superman," and the genuinely otherworldly depictions of the villains Darkseid and Steppenwolf going from planet to planet, wrecking entire armies in some of the most exhilarating moments of "Zack Snyder's Justice League." The release of "Rebel Moon," which recently unveiled its sweeping and expansive trailer, will once again give the director a chance to be fully unchained from IP constrictions and simply wild out, for lack of a better phrase.
Part of that freedom afforded by making an original blockbuster epic means coming up with loads of world-building from scratch.

When Zack Snyder released his director’s cut of Justice League–the aptly titled Zack Snyder’s Justice League–it included a number of changes. While we couldn’t possibly begin to outline every change made, one notable inclusion in Zack Snyder’s cut is that of Jared Leto’s Joker in the Knightmare sequence.
Set on an Earth no longer recognizable, the Knightmare sequence features Joker confronting Batman, getting in his head and delivering the line, “You need me.” But why does Batman need Joker? It’s not a mind game, as Zack Snyder elaborated during a Q&a at his titular SnyderCon. “Our theory is that he’s the one who knows where the Kryptonite, what shards of Kryptonite exist. He has that information. And so he’s being carried…he has basically made a deal with Batman. Don’t kill me, and I’ll show you, I...

Regardless of your interest in a movie about Pooh Bear and Piglet slaughtering scantily-clad hot tub enjoyers, there’s no denying that Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey offers a compelling look at the future of storytelling. For decades, the Walt Disney Corporation has controlled stories about Pooh and the gang from the Hundred Acre Wood, overtaking in the public consciousness even depictions by the characters’ creators A.A. Milne and E.H. Shepard.
But when their 1926 book Winnie-the-Pooh entered the public domain in 2022, creatives like Blood and Honey director Rhys Frake-Waterfield got the chance to put their own spin on the willy nilly silly ol’ bear. Frake-Waterfield has already indicated that he plans to keep working with public domain characters, including not only Pooh but also Bambi and Peter Pan.

Kids today are their own TV schedulers. They have the power to tailor the world’s colossal programming output to their own tastes at the touch of a button, whenever they want. Back in the 1980s, UK kids had barely four channels to rub together, and the child-centric output was infrequent and heavily rationed. Treats for the geeks – in those cold, dark days in exile from the mainstream – were few and far between.
But then, on the 7th of September 1987, like lightning in the dark, came Citv’s Knightmare.
Enter, Stranger…
Knightmare was a four-player, live-action, D&d-inspired, CGI, VR, RPG for kids – not to mention a boon for acronym enthusiasts everywhere. It ran for eight seasons from 1987 to 1994, garnering millions of viewers, and exciting children’s imaginations in ways that few other shows had succeeded.
The concept was straightforward: a team of four kids worked together either to escape...

In the latest edition of its Heat Vision newsletter, the Hollywood Reporter dropped a little news item saying that Warner Bros. Pictures recently test-screened two different versions of director Matt Reeves’ The Batman — one featuring a particular actor, and one without him. Although the Reporter would not say who the actor was, or what role he played, it was heavily implied that it was Irish actor Barry Keoghan, and the part in question was the Joker.
Keoghan is in fact listed in the cast of the movie, as Gotham police officer Stanley Merkel. But last month, his brother Eric posted on social media that Barry had been cast as the Joker in a post that was swiftly deleted soon after it first surfaced. Did Eric have bad intel, was he just trying to rile up the internet, or did he accidentally post a major spoiler from the movie?

We are nearly two weeks away from the long-awaited debut of Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” director’s cut. The 4-hour film event gave the filmmaker the opportunity to present his official vision for what he wanted the first “Justice League” film to be. But what it doesn’t do is tell a complete story, unfortunately.
Speaking to IGN over the weekend, Snyder was asked about the images he released of Jared Leto’s Joker costume that will appear in the newly-shot scene in “Zack Snyder’s Justice League.” While he explained that he was inspired by David Ayer’s vision of Joker, the filmmaker said that the look fits into what he planned for the original planned sequels for “Justice League.”

If it wasn’t for the Snyder Cut of Justice League, Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke would have been the forgotten man of the Dceu. The franchise initially had huge plans for the assassin after he debuted during the post-credits scene of Joss Whedon’s crushingly disappointing theatrical release, as he was set to team up with Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor to cause some serious problems for the titular team in the future.
Slade Wilson was also cast as the villain of Ben Affleck’s The Batman, as well being pegged to star in a solo movie under the direction of The Raid‘s Gareth Evans, in what would have been the acclaimed action fimmaker’s Hollywood debut. One by one, though, each project with Manganiello’s involvement collapsed, and it looked as if Deathstroke had been relegated to a footnote in Dceu history.

The Snyder Cut of Justice League only exists because the fans spent two and a half years relentlessly campaigning for it, so you can guarantee that Zack Snyder will be going out of his way to double down on making them happy when his brand new version of the movie arrives exclusively on HBO Max next year.
A redesigned Steppenwolf, black suit Superman and the absence of even a single frame shot by Joss Whedon are all steps in the right direction as the filmmaker looks to deliver the epic blockbuster that he had hoped to make the first time around, as well as the one that the fanbase wanted to see all along.
However, one potentially sticky situation could be the involvement of Amber Heard, with the actress becoming the least popular figure in Hollywood as Johnny Depp’s supporters appear to have made it their mission to railroad...

Zack Snyder recently revealed that his Justice League reshoots would only add four or five minutes onto the running time of HBO Max’s epic four-hour miniseries, which doesn’t seem like an awful lot given that he’s gathered several members of the cast back together for the additional filming, as well as recruiting Jared Leto’s Joker and Joe Manganiello’s Deathstroke for the ensemble.
The filmmaker has already admitted, though, that up to 75% of his cut will be footage that’s never been seen before, and will include nothing filmed by Joss Whedon. That means there’s a whole lot of stuff that was left on the cutting room floor, enough to double the running time of Justice League without having to use a single frame shot by his replacement.

Against all the odds, Jared Leto is returning as the Joker in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which lands on HBO Max next year. We knew the movie was going to rescue the reputation of one of the Dceu’s biggest failures, 2017’s Jl, but with Leto’s involvement, it also has the potential to right the wrong of 2016’s Suicide Squad to boot. Indeed, fans are hoping that Snyder will be able to give us the frightening, effective Joker we didn’t get last time that Leto donned the white makeup. And according to latest intel, that’s certainly the filmmaker’s intention.

The powerful, action-packed and bleak vision of Batman, as depicted in director Christopher Nolan’s legendary films of The Dark Knight Trilogy, is making a return on a new medium with a new audio project from the acclaimed scribe who developed and co-wrote those films, David S. The Knightmare scene in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has fascinated fans for four years now. Frustratingly, we’ve had to figure out the bigger story surrounding it ourselves though as the theatrical release of Justice League never elaborated on Bruce Wayne’s dystopian vision. One of the things we have to look forward to in Zack Snyder’s cut of Jl, then, is more Knightmare material.
The director’s already confirmed that his Justice League will return to the Knightmare timeline, and he may’ve just revealed how one of these scenes will come about. On Vero, a fan picked up on one way Snyder’s version could expand on the theatrical cut. All in caps, they enthusiastically asked: “Does Cyborg Have A Knightmare Vision Where Superman Is Destroying The World Under Darkseid’S Authority, Some Moments Before Clark Opens His Eyes And Flies Out Of The Ship...

Though he’s most familiar to audiences as J. Jonah Jameson, J.K. Simmons hopped over from the Marvel universe to DC for Justice League, in which he played Commissioner Gordon. The good news is we should see some new footage of him in the role in the Snyder Cut, coming to HBO Max next year.
While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Simmons was asked about his thoughts on the Snyder Cut finally being released. Like many of the rest of the cast, the Spider-Man star is happy for the filmmaker getting to realize his original vision for the pic and is personally interested to see it when it’s released. He also promised that it’ll definitely be a lengthy movie, due to how much Snyder wants to achieve.

As a result of Zack Snyder’s departure from Justice League, there were countless plot threads that were either teased in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice or set to be introduced in the Dceu’s all-star ensemble movie that were left by the wayside as Joss Whedon stepped in to get the $300 million blockbuster over the finishing line under strict instructions from Warner Bros.
Snyder has previously admitted that he originally had a five-movie arc in mind for the members of the Justice League, and given that the shared universe was often characterized by studio interference, as well as his claims that up to 75% of the Snyder Cut could be made up of footage that fans have never seen before, the re-cut version of the film is going to be an altogether different beast from the disappointing theatrical release that eventually led to the two and a half year #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign.

But Zack Snyder has finally spilled the beans on exactly what his vision of the team-up movie was, and in the process, he’s explained a dropped plot thread that has long since infuriated fans.
One of the standout sequences from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice is the “Knightmare” scene which sees Bruce Wayne receive a premonition of an apocalyptic future overruled by a despotic Superman. Memorably, the evil Supes tells Batman: “She was my world, and you took her from me.” Fans assumed that this was a set-up for some dramatic development in Justice League, but unfortunately it never materialized when Warner Bros. removed Snyder from production and took the film in a totally different direction with Joss Whedon.

It looks like Zack Snyder is no longer shying away from talking about his Justice League movie plans. He’s been quiet on the matter since before the movie was even released, but during recent Q&A, he let the details and information fly!
As you know, Justice League went though a number of changes and reshoots under the direction of Joss Whedon after Snyder and Warner Bros. parted ways due to a family tragedy.
Snyder discussed several aspects of his original plans for the Justice League film, and they were so insane that the studio didn’t want to risk making it.
Snyder’s original version of Justice League wasn’t even shot! While DC fans have been wanting to get a Snyder Cut of the film released, it doesn’t event sound like it exists. At least not his original version. The filmmaker said:

DC Animation’s reportedly working on an adaptation of Mark Millar’s Superman: Red Son, according to Revenge of the Fans. Given that the company’s been thorough in their quest to adapt the most highly regarded comics in their back catalogue, this doesn’t come as a huge surprise, but it is a welcome one.
Red Son hit store shelves in 2003 as part of the Elseworlds range and wonders how the DC Universe might’ve developed if Kal-El’s rocket had crashed into the Soviet Union rather than the United States. It’s a neat concept showing how the man who stands for Truth, Justice and the American Way can also just as easily become the embodiment of the Stakhanovite Soviet worker.

We’ve known for a while that Zack Snyder’s original plan for his Dceu movies would have been a five-film arc beginning with Man of Steel that would have told a self-contained story. This would have theoretically begun with the aforementioned 2013 pic, then continued with Batman V Superman, Justice League, Justice League 2 and an unnamed finale.
The driving force for these remaining films? The arrival of Darkseid on Earth and the League attempting to prevent him from turning the planet into another Apokalips (as glimpsed in the ‘Knightmare’ sequence). Now, thanks to a newly unveiled piece of concept art, we know a bit more about the role the Apokalyptian God of All Evil would have played in it.
Fans have cast their eagle-eyes over the photos below, translated some hieroglyphs and surmised that Darkseid would have done battle with Ares in order to gain control of the Omega Effect.

If Warner Bros. hadn’t chickened out and allowed Zack Snyder to complete his five-film Dceu project, we might’ve had something very special.
The director had planned a five-film arc beginning with Man of Steel that would have told a self-contained story. Much of this has been conjecture so far, but we got a juicy bit of confirmation today when Zack Snyder took to his favorite social network Vero to confirm that when Batman says “It’s something more… something darker,” he’s conclusively referencing Darkseid.

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice may very well be a thing of the past, but it would appear that those intrinsically involved aren’t quite finished explicating the divisive superhero flick, like Clay Enos.
Enos – who served in the camera and electrical department on Dawn of Justice – took to Vero last month and shared the below still of a soldier burdened with helping the Man of Steel (Henry Cavill). For those in need of a refresher, the type of soldier pictured below first appeared during the flashback experienced by Bruce Wayne in Dawn of Justice, colloquially referred to as the Knightmare sequence.

Eagle-eared fans have noticed a pretty familiar voice in a key scene in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, that of director and Vero enthusiast Zack Snyder. While the filmmaker’s had an Icarus-like fall from grace after studio executives got cold feet about his vision of Justice League amid the critical savaging suffered by Batman V Superman, it seems he’ll at least live on in the Dceu/Worlds of DC in vocal form.
The scene comes in the surreal and much-discussed Knightmare sequence, in which the Caped Crusader dreams of a dystopian nightmare future in which the earth has been invaded by Apokalyptian forces, there’s a huge Darkseid omega symbol carved into the ground and Superman’s apparently gone full Injustice. It doesn’t look like much fun, to say the least.

Following his departure from the Dceu, whether he was relieved or withdrew voluntarily, Zack Snyder has essentially gone it alone regarding the purging his now obsolete vision. As of late, however, the Saturn Award winner has seen storyboard artist, Jay Oliva – who’s been a veritable treasure trove of Dceu minutia – and Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice cinematographer, Larry Fong, assist with some of the heavy lifting.
Speaking of Dawn of Justice, the Dceu founding father, perhaps most notably, recently expunged the significance of the Knightmare vision experienced by Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) in the divisive motion picture. Long story short, The Flash (Ezra Miller) is running on the cosmic treadmill in order to deliver the ominous warning to Bats. Zack Snyder’s already confirmed that the NetherRealm Studios video game, Injustice, did indeed influence the Knightmare sequence in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. And earlier today, the filmmaker hosted an online discussion with fans to clear up any confusion regarding the discarded narrative over on his favourite social media platform, Vero.
The sequence in question depicts Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) witnessing an apocalyptic future where the planet is under the control of Darkseid and his Parademons, due to an apparent partnership with Superman (Henry Cavill). Subsequently, Barry Allen/Flash (Ezra Miller) travels back in time, via the cosmic treadmill, to deliver an ominous warning to Batman. The message implores him to find Lois Lane (Amy Adams), unite the Justice League, and be wary of some tragedy that will befall the Man of Steel at some point in the future.

What do you know? The Joker was in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, after all. Well, kind of.
Director Zack Snyder has endorsed a fan theory today that links the much-discussed Knightmare sequence from the 2016 DC movie to Batman’s nemesis, as well as the Injustice: Gods Among Us video game. The dream – or rather, a flash-forward to an alternate future – saw a darker Superman attack Batman as he blamed him for death of “his world,” Lois Lane. Bruce Wayne then awoke from the violent vision when the Man of Steel punched him through the chest.
Fans have noticed that this is a close match for the backstory of Injustice, which sees a similarly vengeful Clark Kent kill the Joker in the same way. The reference goes deeper than that, though, as Batman also has a Joker card attached to the firearm he uses during the sequence in BvS.

If you’ve been following superhero movie news at all this week, you’ll have seen that Man of Steel, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice and Justice League (well, bits of it) director Zack Snyder has been spilling his guts on Vero about the imagery and canon of the films as he conceived them. We’ve seen stories about the repeated use of horses, Lex Luthor killing his father and explanations of the ‘Knightmare’ sequence.
The latest of these revelations concerns not-so-stately Wayne Manor, specifically why it was a partially destroyed ruin in Batman V Superman. While the jury’s out on whether the fact that Zack Snyder has had to go online and repeatedly explain what the film was trying to say is indicative of it being great cinema, this particular explanation rubs me up the wrong way.

Many fans complained about the lack of obvious motivation for Lex Luthor’s crusade to bring down the Man of Steel in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. If you paid attention to the dialogue, though, it’s clear that Jesse Eisenberg’s villain carries a lot of trauma from his loveless upbringing by his late father that seems to have caused him to develop a warped hatred of gods and heroes.
But is there more to the story than that? One DC fan took to Vero to discuss his theory that Lex had actually killed his dad prior to the events of BvS. The movie’s director, Zack Snyder, then chipped in to say that he agreed with that reading of the character.

Three years on from its release, and one sequence, in particular, from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice continues to fascinate DC fans. Of course, we’re referring to the “Knightmare” scene, in which Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) receives a vision of a dark future where the world has been subjugated by the forces of Apokolips. At the end of it, Bruce appears to wake when Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) shows up in the Batcave, bringing with him a dire, cryptic warning.
However, as Bruce then wakes up for real and Barry is nowhere to be seen, the reality of this visit is called into question. Comic book readers familiar with the Flash’s ability to travel back in time think they know what’s going on here, though. It’s long been theorized that it’s the Barry from the future seen in the “Knightmare” sequence who’s come...

Just what would Zack Snyder’s Justice League 2 have been like? Seeing as the shape of the DC Extended Universe was completely changed when the franchise’s architect was ousted by Warner Bros. and replaced with Joss Whedon on Justice League, it’s pretty much confirmed that we won’t see the storyline kick-started in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice play out as intended.
That being said, we do know a bit about what it would’ve included. Our biggest clue comes from the infamous “Knightmare” sequence from BvS, which sees Bruce Wayne receive a vision of a dystopian future in which Earth has been subjugated by the forces of Apokolips. In the scene, Batman’s captured by a militarized Superman who blames him for taking away someone precious to him. “She was my world,” the angry Man of Steel tells the vigilante.

Fans often ask themselves what would happen if the Avengers and the Justice League crossed paths. But they’ve been thinking too small, as this new trailer imagines how things would go down if the Avengers and the Justice League met… and then crossed over with the X-Men and the heroes of the Arrowverse in one big Marvel/DC event.
YouTuber UltraSargent has clearly thought long and hard about the storyline behind this imagined crossover, rather than just mindlessly chucking in every hero under the sun. Basically, it employs MacGuffins like the Tesseract to open portals between the worlds and brings in Grant Gustin’s Flash to speed his way through time, as well as wrapping the whole thing in a merger of Captain America: Civil War and X-Men: Days of Future Past, with bits of the Knightmare sequence from Batman V Superman sprinkled in for good measure.

“Mike, you’re in a room. There’s a cauliflower on the floor.”
Children aren’t very good at improv. That’s why there were never any on Whose Line Is It Anyway.
Basing Citv adventure game Knightmare around the improvised encounters of a temporarily blinded child guided on a parlous quest by three friends with a shaky grasp on the precise qualities that distinguish left from right, then, was a risky approach. You just couldn’t rely on early nineties kids to pull their weight in Knightmare’s improv scenes. It turns out a diet of Willy Wonka’s Dweebs and Vanilla Ice lyrics isn’t conducive to thinking on your feet.
That meant the weight of responsibility fell on the shoulders of Knightmare’s recurring actors.

From Bananaman to Grange Hill, join us in a spot of TV nostalgia as we celebrate 50 great 1980s kids' TV theme songs...
There comes a time to turn away from the horrors of the world and retreat underneath the soft, comforting duvet of nostalgia. That time is Friday. That metaphorical duvet is below.
Here are fifty of the best kids’ TV theme songs (spread over two pages and in arbitrary order) of the 1980s. Some, like Alan Hawkshaw’s distinctive Grange Hill intro, are unarguable classics of the era, while others, like Mike Harding's Count Duckula, only started in the late-eighties and spent the rest of their run in the next decade.
Obviously, there being only 50 on this list, we may have missed out your favourite (deliberately or otherwise). Let us know if so, but remember that links may take a while to appear in the comments thread because...

The first ever Knightmare convention has reached its fan-funding goal and will go ahead this weekend.
The classic Citv game show's inaugural event will take place on May 9-11 at Epic studios in Norwich, where the show was originally filmed.
The event required strong ticket sales and fan pledges in order to be staged, and surpassed its required total of £12,000.
The event will open with a performance by the Knightmare Live theatre show. There will also be Q&A sessions with celebrity guests, a workshop on designing a dungeon room and the chance to play a Knightmare room using the original blue screen technology.
Guests will include the series' creator Tim Child and actors from the show, including Hugo Myatt, who played dungeon master Treguard, and Mark Knight, who played Lord Fear.
Tickets are still available and are priced at £15, so if you want to give your 10-year-old self an awesome day out,...

It's the stuff of dreams for children who grew up watching Citv in the '80s and '90s; the chance to become a dungeoneer for the day and to take part in the fantasy gameshow Knightmare. But this dream could become a reality at the first ever Knightmare convention in Norwich.
Taking place on May 9-11 at Epic studios, where the show was originally filmed, the convention is being billed as a "must-attend event" for nostalgia-loving kids TV fanatics.
Guests expected to attend include the show's creator Tim Child and the actors from the show, Hugo Myatt, who played the unforgettable dungeon master Treguard, and Mark Knight, who played Lord Fear.
Also included in the £15 ticket are Q&A sessions with celebrity guests, a workshop on designing a dungeon room and the chance to play a Knightmare room using the original blue screen technology.

Knightmare's new special episode has been released online.
The cult children's TV show has been revived as part of YouTube's Geek Week.
The new episode is produced by series creator Tim Child and features original cast members Mark Knight, Clifford Barry and Hugo Myatt.
"It's great to be back, it really is," said Barry. "It's astonishing, isn't it? I've done a lot of programmes over the years and it's still the one I get fan mail for, 20 years on."
Actress and comedian Isy Suttie - who features in the episode - added: "I'm a massive fan of the show and have been since I was a kid. I absolutely loved it and used to watch it every week and really wanted to be a contestant on it. So it is like a dream come true."
The new Knightmare was recorded in the original Knightmare Studio in Norwich.
