Porn as a stage play
lor_29 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
This obscure Ron Sullivan/Henri Pachard video is (despite its title) not a sequel but rather a reworking of his 1985 classic "She's So Fine!". Central premise of Dick Thomas's original screenplay is retained: a pre-Wedding party with a varied array of characters conversing and humping, structured in the form of a stage play (but with XXX content). A talented cast make this worth discovering.

Some characters remain: Joey Silvera assumes the groom role Don Bigelow from the original (that was previously played by Jerry Butler). Original revolved around the bride, but this time a party is thrown for groom Silvera, with an array of prostitutes, led by Nina Hartley, Alicia Monet and Nikki Knights, as key protagonists, while in the original Paul Thomas as an Alice Cooper-styled rock star with his group made for a similar culture clash.

You have to be interested in story/character-driven porn to enjoy this movie, which seems quite archaic in a world awash with the dominant Gonzo style of all-sex erotica. The fact that this ensemble of talented actors are giving genuine, at times moving performances, comes as something of a shock: proving once again that Adult Cinema doesn't have to be silly or amateurish.

Of special note is a very talented actor Robert Bullock, here as a cross-dresser whose secret lust for that matinee idol of the era John Leslie is not realized in a homosexual sex scene but rather in a 3-way with prostitute Alicia Monet and Leslie. While the show includes plenty of drawing-room comedy and of course explicit sex, it manages plenty of soap opera dramatics and even panache.
