A good 'killer' of time!
jellyneckr25 April 2001
KILLER BUD is a movie where there are the stupid characters in stupid situations, but all of it is funny. There are a number of scenes that are so outrageous and far from reality that you can't help but laugh. The first half of the movie is just setting up for the insane plot of two best friends, Waylon [Corin Nemec] and Buzz [Dave Faustino] getting locked in a convenience store while trying to break into it. The second half of the movie is spent with cheap [but funny] jokes, slapstick, crude humor, and tons of needless sexual innuendo. This isn't a great movie, it isn't even really a good movie, but it does have some great laughs and is pretty entertaining for a direct-to-video release.

"It was like A Night At The Roxbury, but it wasn't funny."
mazer3 September 1999
The title Totally Irresponsible speaks perfectly for the makers of this film. This is the worst piece of garbage/non sense I've seen all summer (yes worse then Wild Wild West.) I myself was a huge fan of Married With Children, but after seeing this pathetic movie I completely lost respect for David Faustino. This is the type of immature garbage that my little niece would enjoy except due the the drug gestures in the movie she would not be allowed to even view it. It was like A Night At The Roxbury, but it wasn't funny. I've never walked out on a movie, and I almost did but stayed in the theater just to get enough information to make this revue.

This movie is balls
This movie is so stupid that I feel I have to write this before it's even over. It's a terrible waste to see some old and what should be retired actors act in a B-movie like this. God. I found this movie for $1.99 in my grocery store. I only bought it because it disguises it's self as a silly stoner movie. I'm stoned, and it's still not funny. What does that say about it?

Who are most of these actors anyway? Aside from Bud from Married with Children and the guy who acts in The Stand, I don't recognize a single one of them. I even read their bios and I don't even remember them from what little else I've seen on their resumes.

I've paused it 6 times so I can go do other stuff to amuse myself. This is ridiculous.

Oh Lord. Now they're discussing how they think of each other when they're masturbating alone. That's not funny.

My advice: Rent Napoleon Dynamite instead.

Corny yet awesome stoner comedy.
mcrock3164 June 2007
I saw this movie on show time or some cable channel in 2003. I watched it based on the fact bud bundy was in it. I was excpecting a horrible piece of crap but it was better than expected. I love the all the characters and the sound track. I love how these 2 stoner losers get themselves involved in such dumbass situations through this whole film. Its typical for a stoner comedy but it turned out to work very well for this hidden gem. I was disappointed by the ending but other than that i would say this is a pretty decent film. I would never expect it to win any awards. Overall I just think the chemistry between all the actors shine despite the ridiculous story line.

Totally humourous, loony-tunes type of movie that's wonderfully enjoyable.
mrmikey14 January 2000
It's nice to see a simple farce again after so many mega-blockbuster disasters lately. Even though David Faustino simply reprises his role from "Married with Children," he shows some talent, while Corin Nemec is superb as his good buddy Waylon. Nemec has the charisma and talent to carry a movie.

See this flick and enjoy - you will not be disappointed.

Better than Enemy at the Gates
drewzak8 April 2001
Warning: Spoilers
Killer Bud was one of the best films I have ever, or will ever, see. While not the most creative story ever written, the performances of Corin Nemec and David Faustino alone made up for it. Fans of Married... With Children and Parker Lewis Can't Lose will definitely enjoy this movie. Nemec and Faustino exhibit an on-screen chemistry not unlike Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon. Also, both Waylon (Nemec) and Buzz (Faustino) are throwbacks to their respective television alter-egos. There are also small sound effects peppered into the first half of the film, reminiscent of Parker Lewis Can't Lose.

*SPOILERS*

Another great thing about this movie is some of the smaller details; for example, the continuity of the film is fantastic- the constant references to the girl Waylon dated in high school, the wad of twenty dollar bills, the old man released from the nursing home, etc... How many movies with wide-releases make it a point to tie up all of their loose ends? Enemy at the Gates sure didn't!

As far as dramatic movies that send the audience down an emotional rollercoaster & leave them in a state of introspective shock at the end go, Killer Bud sucks. If you want something like that, watch Memento. However, if you're looking for a movie that will make you laugh out loud from beginning to end, Killer Bud will do just that- it is easily one of the greatest comedies in the history of great comedies. Anyone who says otherwise either has no sense of humor whatsoever, or just no reason to live, period.

One of the best stoner comedies!
FacemeltingFilms1 May 2011
Buddy/stoner comedies will never go out of style. In one hundred years from now there will still be guys sitting on the couch, smoking weed, and it will still be funny. While the 90's and early 2000's were filled with weed comedies few were actually funny. Surprisingly enough, Killer Bud is at the top of the list.

The secret to Killer Bud's success is it stars David Faustino (Bud Bundy) and everyone's favorite Ferris Bueller rip off, Corey Nemic, two underrated comic geniuses (and I DO use that term lightly!) that hold together an interesting, but wandering weed epic that keeps it's steam all the way through. The story follows Waylon and Buzz after they were fired from an elderly hospital for getting beaten up by the old people. They go to a bar to drown their sorrows where they meet two young ladies looking for a little marijuana. This simple request sets off an odyssey that could only be told in 2001.

Unlike other classic stoner films like Half Baked, Homegrown and Stoned Age, Killer Bud has no true plot or structure but instead, much like the confused stoner who watches it, the film wanders through strange locations, colorful characters and some awesome claymation to give you exactly what you want when you get high. After you've finished watching Killer Bud you won't know what you've seen but you had a good time!

You're a cartoon, dude!

I have to say this movie was surprisingly funny. Several scenes were pretty unrealistic (the boat-in-a-pill) but this movie isn't a total waste of time. It's pretty dumb though. Think Cheech and Chong meets American Pie. Go rent this if you have nothing better to do. 4/10

Stupid Fun Buddy Movie for the youngsters
t-man-815 September 1999
I saw this in LA a while back and I had a blast. Yes the humor was dumb at times but who cares? Its a movie about two dumb-ass guys who get stuck in a convenience store! The actors did a great job, (David Faustino really steps beyond his "Married..." days), the directing is tight and it has Robert Stack as a kick-ass delta force style commando. Some of the time the movie played it "safe" in the humor but that helped keep it seem real. So all in all, its a low-brow comedy with some high-brow heart, and one of the funniest boy-boy bonding moments I've ever seen on film.

'Roxbury' is funny? Only if high & mentally challenged.
gordonty29 May 2000
"It was like 'A Night At The Roxbury' but it wasn't funny." So, according to this person 'Roxbury' was actually funny and based on that fact alone proves that this person has no idea what funny is. 'Totally Irresponsible' was completely enjoyable from beginning to end. Is it deep? Is it art? Will it spark interesting conversations on life and death? Thankfully, no. 'Totally Irresponsible' will prevent any and all deep thinking and that's the point... It's refreshing, it's quick and will entertain you for 90 minutes. 'Roxbury' doesn't work as a three minute skit on SNL.

Funny, Funny, and FUNNNNNNNNNNY!!!
killers20 October 1999
I have no idea what movie that last reviewer saw, or what axe he has to grind, but he's a humorless idiot.

TOTALLY IRRESPONSIBLE was a VERY enjoyable film, with VERY enjoyable performances. I laughed out loud a lot (I hardly ever do!). The audience I was with seemed to really like it too...and for the record DAVID F. WAS GREAT!

GO SEE THIS FILM FOR YOURSELF! The last reviewer must have seen The Horse Whisperer.

Funny enough to watch
scott_satori3 May 2004
I had no idea what to expect when I saw this movie on my cable guide but I thought, 'Hey, a stoner movie with two actors who seem to be real-life stoners...how bad can it be?" It actually wasn't bad. This is no Raging Bull but it isn't supposed to be. The plot is ridiculous at best, but that should be what you expected, if not - read the title again.... The characters, Waylon and Buzz - am I the only one who noticed that their names are - wailin' buzz (dude!)? are goofy at best but that's what you want in this movie. It's nice to see Parker Louis working again and David Faustino, well.he's perfect as a Bud Bundy re-hash sort of character. The girls are good but secondary as far as the over-all movie goes. They are integral to the plot of, `get weed, get girls, get food for now hungry girls, get laid"; but seem to take a back seat to the action. Memorable characters include the Gooch and the goofball of a store clerk. Peruvian Butt Pot is hysterical though highly overpriced - grin Look for Buzz sucking on a pot-vision sized can of.you'll see. Feed bags are actually a great marketing name but don't realize their full potential. Character development is nil, as expected. The claymation is a nice touch. If you need too much delving into this movie, you shouldn't watch it. If you are hangin' with the guys and need something stupid/funny to watch while you're imbibing - this is your flick.

Funniest movie ive seen for a while
LanderRei30 July 2002
" You left us in that stinky car for like, forever!"

I know I didnt quote that perfectly ( And Im not about to set up my PS2 and find the movie to get one quote right) but that line always makes me laugh.

Anyways, enough rambling, and on to my point. As said earlier, this is easily the funniest movie Ive seen in quite some time. When I first bought it (Never bothered to rent it...I take chances) I didnt expect much, but I knew it had Danielle Harris in it and thats good enough for me. Its actually pretty funny.

This movies got it all ( or almost)...a killer dog, peruvian butt-pot and feedbags...and a quick lesson is Etymology ( Might have spelled that wrong)

The acting was satisfactory, but sometimes they seemed out of character. For instance, when Danielle Harris was saying or doing something ditzy she did it just fine...but otherwise she didnt seem ditzy at all. Almost like she had random fits of stupidity, much like I do.

I suggest if you like comedies, to rent this movie. It certainly isnt for everyone, but you never know...

A wacky tale of two pathetic saps, looking for action -
Elly-1418 November 1999
This is a totally goofy, fun movie. I really enjoyed seeing David Faustino playing one of the main characters. It was the first time I'd seen him since "Married With Children" and I thought he did a really terrific job. The most hilarious part is when he and "Waylon" get locked in the convenience store. The fight they have, and the confession he makes later is great. Corin Nemick was very convincing as the delusional geek who actually believed he and "Buzz" were cool. Also, there's some really amazing animation. I thought about the movie after I watched it, and even though on the surface, it just seems like a silly comedy, I think that there was a lot of thought and a lot of heart underneath. I just loved it!

Anyone who buys or rents this shouldn't be allowed money.
ryankfreeman22 June 2002
The only reason I watched this was because my overly excited friend shelled out 20 something dollars for the DVD of this movie and told me it was "hillarious". Once the novelty of David Faustino and Corin Nemec in a movie wears off, so does your interest. There are very few comedies I can watch and not laugh once, and this was one of them. Note to all people who always say "well there are some funny parts", a few funny parts do not make a funny movie. You should laugh all the way through a comedy, not just a few seconds.

Misses the mark
WorknMan-220 March 2001
Warning: Spoilers
(Minor spoilers) Killer Bud had a lot of potential, but came up a little short. The plot is promising for a movie of this type - two guys meet a couple of girls in a bar and they need to get some weed for the girls in order to obtain sex. But little do they know that the girls think they're complete losers and are only in it for the weed. They end up getting trapped in a convenient store while the girls wait impatiently at the guys' house. I don't know if this movie was altogether funny. There were a few laughs, but not many. The sad part is the killer puppy was probably the funniest of the characters. The one good thing about the movie is that although the guys are loseres and not too bright, they aren't completely idiots like the two guys in Roxbury and Dumb & Dumber. However, the whole point of a movie like this is to see the guys score with the chicks. And even though I was mainly bored through the whole movie, I kept watching to find out what would happen at the end. The fact that the guys didn't score with the girls they were after made the whole thing seem pointless. Though it still has a happy ending, I was left disappointed. This might be one to watch with a few friends while drunk or high, but I wouldn't recommend it if you plan on watching it alone.
