- In this pilot episode Adela travels to Chayning Court to celebrate the occasion of her goddaughter Eleanor Bing (Emma Fielding), stuck in a wheelchair with paralyzed legs, is engaged to be married to Everard Mountjoy (William Oxborrow), a joyous moment since the accident that caused her to lose the use of her legs. When her former fiancé Bertie Philipson (Tom Butcher) appears at the manor tension arises. Eleanor's father Alastair Bing (John Alderton) blames his daughter's condition on Bertie since he was the one driving when the accident occurred that caused the loss of Emma's legs. Adela manages to smooth over the ill feelings and everything seems to be going well until Mountjoy is found drowned in the bath tub. Initially thought to have suffered narcolepsy and expired by accident, one look at the strange death scene is enough to cause many questions about Emma's relationship with her beau, and Adela sees foul play and takes measures to uncover the truth to bring out the murderer.
