“Dancing With the Stars” and “America’s Funniest Home Videos” staple Alfonso Ribeiro will host new wildlife series “Jack Hanna’s Passport” from Hearst Media Production Group (Hmpg).
The show will not star wildlife expert “Jungle Jack” Hanna himself, but rather “take a fresh look at the most compelling stories from Hanna’s legendary career and his greatest past adventures across the globe.”
“Jack Hanna’s Passport” will air weekend mornings starting April 6 on ABC owned and affiliated stations across the U.S. during the “Weekend Adventure” educational/informational program block. Times vary by market, so viewers should check local listings.
Nominated for 15 Emmys and winning five, Hanna’s decades-long career in wildlife programming spurred from his background as a conservationist and his position at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio. A frequent TV guest of David Letterman, Hanna’s also authored several books, won many awards, and received multiple honorary doctorates.

Financial terms of the deal to acquire the libraries for “Into the Wild” and “Wild Countdown” were not disclosed.

In the wild frontier of videogames, things seldom remain the same for long. Properties come and go. Company mascots quietly check themselves into retirement homes. Every week, IndieWire asks a select handful of TV critics two questions and publishes the results on Tuesday. (The answer to the second, “What is the best show currently on TV?” can be found at the end of this post.)
This week’s question: What’s the best documentary series you’ve seen on TV? Opening this up to past series, current ones, and those that you may have seen screeners for that are coming up soon.
Liz Shannon Miller (@lizlet), IndieWire
While we debate whether or not it technically counts as a TV show (certainly that Oscar it won would suggest otherwise), “O.J.: Made in America” was without question a seminal work, and one which owed a lot to its episodic structure while proving to be an addictive binge. Documentaries aren’t exactly my favorite genre, but “Made in America” was as gripping as any scripted series — and we have definitive proof of this,...

General Electric (Ge) is fortunate to be a business whose everyday operations can make for a compelling viewing experience, and the conglomerate’s latest web series takes advantage of that fact. It has tapped one-time myth buster Adam Savage and fellow TV personality Alie Ward as the hosts of In The Wild, a show that explores some of Ge’s most impressive innovations in the world of tech.
Savage and Ward both have plenty of personality to go around, but the real stars of In The Wild are the machines in its spotlight. In the show’s premiere, its two hosts head to Greenville, South Carolina, where they get to play with a top-of-the-line 3D printer that uses “additive” technology. The exuberance displayed by Savage and Ward gives In The Wild a kid-in-a-candy-store feel.

Martin Garrix is definitely a DJ who knows how to ring in the new year with style. We’ve already heard an unreleased song from the Dutch DJ dubbed “Scared To Be Lonely” that was unveiled during his stint at Ava Nye 2016, and now his end of the year mix has hit the internet for our listening pleasure.
Comprised of nineteen tracks and clocking in at an hour long, Garrix’s year end mix is packed to the brim with a number of his top releases from 2016, as well as plenty of other goodies. A number of songs from the producer’s Ade week marathon surface in the tracklist, like “Spotless” with Jay Hardway and “Welcome” with Julian Jordan. Alesso and Axwell Λ Ingrosso pop up as well, before Garrix brings the mix to a fitting close with his Bebe Rexha collaboration “In The Name Of Love.”

After directing some of the most acclaimed films of the century thus far with his Paradise trilogy, Austrian director Ulrich Seidl is back this year with a new feature. As with much of his work, Safari looks to stretch the boundaries of the documentary form as he explores African trophy hunting.
In the works for many years, the first trailer has now arrived, which offers a brief, unsubtitled tease as we see a number of hunters before a glimpse at one of their kills. Considering the controversy around the topic, we imagine this may rightfully cause quite a stir when it lands this fall in Austria, as well as likely on the festival circuit.
Check out the trailer and synopsis below thanks to Screen Anarchy.

One of the greatest documentary filmmakers on the planet, Austria's Ulrich Seidl has built a loyal following around the world thanks to his ability to approach frequently difficult - and often very odd - subject matter with a curious, non-judgemental eye. Seidl's gift is his ability to find the core of his subjects and present them as they are while leaving it to his audience to grapple with the import of what they're viewing. It's an approach that is deeply engaging, frequently quite funny, and often very challenging. His latest effort - Safari - will surely fall into that latter category for a great many people. Africa. Martin Garrix remained quiet on the release front for the beginning of 2016, but with festival season ramping up he appears eager to strike while the iron is hot. The Dutch progressive house DJ/producer just made waves with last week’s release of “Lions In The Wild,” and he’s now built up additional momentum by premiering even more unreleased music.
During his performance at Indy 500 Snake Pit (the electronic music event that coincides with the Indy 500 Races in Indiana), Garrix dropped a lighthearted track predicated on melodic vocal cuts. An 8-bit-reminiscent synth lead occupies segments of the song with a distinctly more downplayed vibe than the rest, making for an enjoyable track that we’re eager to hear more of.

Martin Garrix has kept his fans waiting for new music ever since he announced the launch of Stmpd Rcrds back in March, and at long last his first major single has arrived. He first debuted his collaboration with UK duo Third Party during his performance at this year’s Ultra Music Festival, and has now released the monumental track through his brand new imprint.
Even as a music critic who hasn’t universally celebrated what Garrix puts out, I can honestly cite “Lions In The Wild” as evidence that the Dutch superstar is coming into his own as a producer. He hasn’t done away with the barbaric kicks and grandiose synth leads that defined his earlier releases, but his attention to subtleties in the track’s arrangement speak to his evolved conceptual understanding.

In the wild and raunchy comedy Neighbors, Seth Rogen and Rose Byrne played suburban parents who had to tap back into their hard-partying days to take down a fraternity filled with noisy idiots. The movie was a smash success, so a sequel seemed inevitable. If you loved Neighbors, you’re likely going to love this: The script is flipped ever so slightly in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising, as the title implies. The fraternity isn’t jeopardizing Mac (Seth Rogen) and Kelly’s (Rose Byrne) way of living. It’s a film starring Sundance Film Fest creator Robert Redford and another film starring Sundance mainstay James Franco that are the latest and last items to officially pad the 2015 edition. Ken Kwapis’ A Walk in the Woods (surely to be discussed as a companion piece to Gus Van Sant’s heavy Cannes contender The Sea of Trees) and Rupert Goold’s directorial debut, True Story – a story that is stranger than fiction close out the Premieres selections. Also announced we find items for New Frontier, Sundance Kids and the From the Collection items. And while the line-up is complete, the actual final piece to the puzzle might actually be a secret screening or two. The Canadian wilderness is no place to get lost. That becomes apparent in "Backcountry," a tense thriller premiering at the Toronto Film Festival on September 8. Based on a true story, the movie revolves around Alex (Jeff Roop) and Jenn (Missy Peregrym), a young couple who become lost while camping. To make matters worse, they stumble into bear territory. As the tension mounts and their already fragile relationship begins to crack even more under the pressure, the two must somehow keep their wits about them in order to survive.
Back in November, 2013, Peregrym, Roop and writer/director Adam MacDonald took a much-needed break from shooting "Backcountry" before heading to Vancouver to complete production. Back in November, 2013, Peregrym, Roop and writer/director Adam MacDonald took a much-needed break from shooting "Backcountry" before heading to Vancouver to complete production. The trio gathered in Toronto's Liberty Village to discuss the great outdoors, character friction and creating "the shower scene of bear attacks."

Lifetime picked up a new, controversial reality show called Born in the Wild, which will document women who have decided to give birth naturally and outdoors in lieu of a hospital.
Lifetime Picks Up Born In The Wild
According to a press release, Lifetime, the home of successful reality programs including Dance Moms and True Tori, has ordered eight episodes of the new series, each one hour long.
“What happens when the craziest experience of a woman’s life becomes truly wild, and soon-to-be parents decide to take on an unassisted birth in the outdoors? Born in the Wild will document the journeys of young, expectant parents who have chosen to give birth ‘in the wild,’” reads the official description.
The premise of the show has raised eyebrows, with many objecting with obvious safety concerns. According to Lifetime senior VP, Eli Lehrer, Lifetime has a series of strict rules to...

Willie Nelson is just one of the artists rushing to cancel gigs at SeaWorld after seeing Blackfish, the documentary about killer whales who have attacked their trainers.
Heart are an unlikely bunch of revolutionaries. But the American soft rockers' decision to cancel a concert at SeaWorld in Florida may mark a turning point in the relationship between humans and one of the most magnificent mammals of the ocean. The band this week joined Willie Nelson and Barenaked Ladies in cancelling shows at the Orlando theme park because they had watched Blackfish, a film about Tilikum, a five-tonne male orca that has been involved in the deaths of three people. This modest yet riveting documentary has made ever-bigger ripples across the pond since its premiere at Sundance earlier this year, with an audience of 20 million recently watching it on CNN. It is now on the Oscar longlist.

Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-ca), Democratic leader of the House of Representatives, will present the Top Ten List on the Late Show With David Letterman on Election Day, Tuesday, November 5, CBS announced this morning. This will be Pelosi’s second visit to the late night program. She last visited the broadcast seven years ago on August 22, 2006, ahead of the fall elections that made her the first female Speaker of the House. That same night, Kathy Griffin is booked to be on the show, as is Bruce McCall, who co-authored with Letterman the book This Land Was Made For You And Me (But Mostly Me): Billionaires In The Wild, which will be released Tuesday; and a performance from musical guest J. Cole. Pelosi is known, among other things, as being game to make the rounds on daytime and nighttime talk shows including The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Rachael Ray, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon,...

In the wild world of Hollywood movie making, no project is ever truly dead. Pictures might swap directors, add/drop players more than a fantasy football team, change studios or take decades to develop, but an intriguing concept can always be revived. Just look at Term Life. Last month the Vince Vaughn vehicle got terminated at Universal Pictures, but since then a new deal has been struck that's giving the crime thriller a second life. THR reports Qed International and Worldview have signed on to produce and finance the picture that is inspired by Andy Lieberman and Nick Thornborrow's graphic novel of the same name. Universal will serve as the picture's domestic distributor. Qed will begin selling international rights soon at the American Film Market. Vaughn, who is also producing the pic alongside Wild West Picture Show Productions' Victoria Vaughn and Micah Mason, will front the film as the...

Yes, Survivor's castaways are hungry and The Amazing Race's travelers don't always sleep so well, but the challenges those contestants face pale in comparison to what is asked of the teams on Get Out Alive with Bear Grylls.
Designed to see who has what it truly takes to survive in the wild, Get Out Alive pushes its players kilometers past their breaking points through an expertly mixed cocktail of adrenaline-boosting obstacles, emotion-shattering conditions and stomach-churning "meals" (duck embryos should never constitute "food"). The combination of those elements forces the strongest to rise, the weakest to fall and viewers to stay perched on the edge of their seats. ETonline caught up with Grylls to talk about shepherding this harrowing survival experience and why this is his dream gig.
ETonline: What do you think Get Out Alive has that Survivor, The Amazing Race and their brethren, lack?

Like many polemical documentaries, the horrifying Blackfish is a challenge to review. Its subject -- the mistreatment of killer whales who perform at SeaWorld and other water parks -- is emotionally charged, and any critic with a glimmer of sympathy for animals will find it hard to separate the film's message from its cinematic qualities.
Blackfish focuses on Tilikum, an outsized 12,000 lb. killer whale who has been performing at water parks since his capture in 1983. Eager to perform but sometimes dangerously unpredictable, Tilikum has killed three people -- trainer Keltie Byrne at Sealand of the Pacific in 1991, SeaWorld Orlando visitor Daniel Dukes in 1999, and star SeaWorld trainer Dawn Brancheau in 2010.
Tilikum's deadly history is uncommon, but Blackfish argues that his life story is not. Via heartbreaking archival footage and interviews, the film explains that capturing wild killer whales was commonplace for decades and especially cruel: the whale hunters captured...

The New York Times once called Stephen Burrows "the brightest star in American fashion," and for good reason. Burrows' career has spanned over 50 years and has garnered a legacy that is currently being celebrated in a retrospective of his creations from 1968 to 1983 at The Museum of the City of New York.
The exhibit, "Stephen Burrows: When Fashion Danced," is a feast for the eyes and a must-see for any fashion lover. Technicolored gowns, vibrant frocks and eye-catching ensembles fill the room and are a beautiful reminder of a time when fashion, quite literally, danced. The "it" girls and boys of the Disco era were decked out in Burrows' designs as they twirled the night away at clubs like Studio 54. Furthermore, the 69-year-old was also one of the five designers who are credited for putting American fashion on the map, thanks to the historic 1973 "Battle of Versailles" fashion show.

Wait, everyone know who Frank Ocean is, right?
Actually, no.
Sure, he dominated the 2012 year-end best albums lists, and is entering the 2013 Grammys with a leading six nominations, including nods for best album and best new artist as well as two for singing the indelible hook on Kanye West and Jay-z's "No Church In The Wild." But Ocean's album "Channel Orange" has only sold 500,000 records and he's simply not a well-known name.
Yes, I know you love Frank's debut "Channel Orange," but your mom probably thinks he's Billy Ocean's son. Before you get out of this article and into our car, let me explain.
As serious music fans, we can get blinded by the fact that just because everyone we know is familiar with a musician or band, it doesn't mean the mainstream is. This was made crystal clear at the Grammys two years ago when Arcade Fire...

In part 1 of this somewhat elongated discussion of the characters inhabiting the world of Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven, we delved, as best we could, into what made each of the three protagonists tick, Will Munny (Clint Eastwood), Ned Logan (Morgan Freeman) and The Schofield Kid (Jaimz Woolvett). We then observed how the film then took those archetypes and played around with them in such a way as to provide the audience with a story experience some might not have expected. In essence, the manner in which Unforgiven handles the trio of heroes makes a refreshingly mature and even surprising viewing experience. However, the protagonists are not the only figures in the film who are cut from a different cloth than in most westerns. Sure enough, director Eastwood and screenwriter David Webb Peoples had special twists in store for the less exemplary characters in the movie as well.

Jay-z and Jeymes Samuel of the Bullitts are apparently scoring Baz Luhrmann's upcoming The Great Gatsby - according to a tweet from Samuel's himself, who promised that the score would be "too Dope for words!" If you recall, the first trailer for Baz Luhrmann's take on the F. Scott Fitzgerald work featured No Church In The Wild, from the Jay-z/Kanye West Watch The Throne album, blasting at the intro; so maybe this shouldn't be too much of a surprise. And in addition, according to Collider, the film's soundtrack may also include songs from Prince and Lady Gaga. We'll have to wait to eventually see the...

The new trailer for Baz Luhrmann's The Great Gatsby has splashed down in a riot of style and a little more substance on how his 3D interpretation of F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel will play out. The focus this time is firmly on Leonardo DiCaprio's mysterious millionaire, Jay Gatsby. Soundtracked again by Kanye and Jay-z's 'No Church In The Wild', we see him speeding his banana yellow Duisenberg through New York, Tobey Maguire's wide-eyed Nick Carraway in tow, shaking hands, scratching backs and pulling off shady deals that keep him in shirts, champagne and spectacular parties. There's more of Meyer Wolfsheim, a shadowy figure inspired by real-life Jewish gangster Arnold Rothstein, played here by Bollywood great Amitabh Bachchan. And then there's Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan) herself, Gatz's long lost love and his tragic flaw.As the movie's first trailer (below) and this week's new character posters (above) amply demonstrate,...

Just genuflect at the altar of Dan Gheesling, because he's pulled strings, ingratiated wildly, won over home viewers, and systematically monopolized season 14 of Big Brother like Uncle Pennybags himself. If his Britney takedown wasn't impressive enough (complete with utter Jenn manipulation), last night he somehow convinced Danielle to remove him from the block and offer up her own showmance beau Shane as a proxy. She obliged, Dan blindsided Shane with the sole eviction vote, and the dim, umber Luke Wilson impostor left the house in fourth place. Astounding.

Using more than 70,000 user profiles, their research team has proved conclusively that when likeminded individuals on their site post the same favorite movie choices, they're 59 percent more likely to get a communication request from someone of the opposite sex. Not only that, but there's even a DaVinci Code for movie listings that are most likely to project sexy cinematic pheromones.

As the Kaiser Chiefs once philosophised, “I predict a riot” and it’s a statement hip-hop’s most prolific tag-team decide to take very seriously in their newest video.
Jay-z and Kanye West, when they’re not batting away fake pregnancy rumours and romancing a Kardashian, can be found making some great music filled with interesting samples, strategic collaborations and commanding rap lyrics (ok, not all of Kanye’s are that great anymore but still). No Church In The Wild is the next cut from their collabo-album Watch The Throne after Otis (they destroyed cars) and N****s in Paris (they rotated and morphed and all that jazz) and features the upcoming singer Frank Ocean who came 2nd in the BBC Sound of 2012 poll. Current.
Romain Gavras is directing this one and if you know a little about his previous music video work, you’ll have an idea of what to expect.

Kim calls herself a 'proud girlfriend' while supporting Kanye's latest music video -- but isn't she still married? Kim Kardashian is no stranger to controversy, and now she's totally dissing her ex Kris Humphries by flaunting her love for Kanye West all over the Internet! Kim, 31, took to Twitter on June 1 to celebrate the release of 34-year-old Kanye's new music video for "No Church In The Wild," writing, "Sickest video ever!!! This is such a slap in the face to Kris, 27, who isn't even thinking of dating anyone until after the divorce is finalized. Kim needs to relax and lay off the Kanye Pda! Director Romain Gavras is no stranger to helming provocative material, being the man behind M.I.A.'s redhead killing "Born Free" and the helmer of "Notre Jour Viendre" but he's upping the stakes for "No Church In The Wild," the latest single from the team up of Jay-z and Kanye West.

O! M! G! “The Great Gatsby” trailer is out and the full film can’t come soon enough.
It had me hooked from the moment I heard the pulsing beat of Kanye West and Jay-z’s “No Church In The Wild.” From there, director Baz Luhrmann transferred “Gatsby” fans to a glitzy, yet gritty take on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Jazz Age masterpiece, which was always the author’s intent.
Decadent party scenes only mask the “hysteria” of the Roaring '20s, fueled by bathtub gin and a sense of liberation that influenced the fashions (shorter hemlines!) and loosey goosey morals (sexy, sexy times all over the place!) of the time.
For the December release, Luhrmann recalls the vibe of his equally modern take on “Romeo & Juliet,” which also starred his muse-like leading man, Leonardo DiCaprio. This time, DiCaprio is another ill-fated anti-hero. He’s the main man, Jay Gatsby,...
